OMYSD* commission for @erovalkyrie of Jeeves&Wooster

Jeeves&Wooster
modus vivendi
Jeeves’ musings regarding his employer.
A short comic, that came from how often Bertie is used and made a fool of in the books and series; of course this is a big comical pillar of J&W, but I started to think of how much it could weight on Bertie, and, after years of service and the deepening of their bond, on Jeeves. Hopefully the writing is decent enough, and I am sure I am not the first to explore such an idea. I will transcribe the text for easier viewing:
“A great number of words has been written on the subject of my employer, Mr. Wooster, and his various misadventures.
Many a gentleman or lady come knocking at our door, calling for my employer's aid...
Whether that be in the form of a favour…
…or, more simply, money.
Mr. Wooster has, for this reason, been described in many accounts (and very often by himself) as foolish, naive, and lacking spine.
On one occasion, I myself must admit to having referred to him as “mentally negligible". This declaration, in truth, revealed much more of my character than that of Mr. Wooster.
For the truth is that Mr. Wooster happens to be kind, instead of brilliantly cutting; good natured, instead of respectably distant; and caring, instead of decorously cold.
No, he’s not a fool at all.
These may not be the traits of the proper gentleman; but they are those of a good man, one I am proud to stand beside.
So I shall strive to follow his example, and be kinder; and be more goodnatured; and (this, in truth, comes easier to me when it comes to him), to show my care, and the regard which I hold for him above all others.”

jeeves really is That Bitch
Kind of consumed on the daily by the implications of my absolute favourite Jeeves story, “Bertie Changes His Mind”, in which Bertie is tired of his routine and considers adopting a child, while Jeeves thinks they should holiday in Brighton until the mood passes. Stratagems…and eventually spoils? It introduces Bertie’s sister and her three daughters (never subsequently referred to), and most notably is the only story narrated by Jeeves, which gives you a view into what might always actually be happening behind the scenes.
i've got a never-ending backlog of wips but doodle is my middle name
If I were a murderer, and I'd meticulously planned a murder, and then I turned up at the place to do the murder and found that world-famous-murder-solver Hercule Poirot was also there, I would simply not do the murder.
I think it would be funny to write a murder mystery where not only did every single character involved have an obvious motive to kill this mf, they were actually all attempting to murder him first, but the murder attempts all cancelled each other out all except for one. Two people tried to poison him but the poisons just happen to work as antidotes for each other, and instead of killing him only gave him the shits, and due to having the shits he couldn't go hunting that day like he had planned, foiling the plans of the one who had conditioned his favourite hunting horse to panic and bolt at the cue of a whistle, and the other murder attempt of tampering with his gun so that it would have exploded his whole face off.
The whole mystery isn't about who could have done it or how, but who was the one who got lucky and actually succeeded.
Sherlock Holmes and The Case of Perhaps We'd Best Leave This One Alone, Watson. There Appears To Be An Excess Of Armed Maniacs In The Vicinity.
When I was in high school a friend of mine would host murder mystery dinners once or twice a year. They were the kind you could buy as a kit -- I don't even know if they exist anymore -- and everyone was assigned (or chose) a character, then received a booklet of clues to share. The idea was to spend an evening in a one-shot LARP designed like an Agatha Christie novel.
I was a year above most of them at school so they threw a "goodbye" murder mystery for me just before graduation, and about 2/3 of the way through the game we all realized that everyone had at least attempted to kill the victim. The game then shifted from "whodunnit" to "who succeeded in dunninit" which we all felt was not only super fun but above the usual level of narrative complexity for those games.
After we solved it, we discovered that the game wasn't from a kit -- the host had written it herself and meticulously printed out the booklets in replica style of the kits. It was the best going-away party I think I could possibly have had.
It may be that you are not yourself luminous, but that you are a conductor of light. Some people without possessing genius have a remarkable power of stimulating it.

Instead, it's Dr Watson as played by David Burke, and there's an assortment of chemistry vials on the desk as well as a microscope.

Ough. WOW. Poor Poor Hastings. :( It's almost as if... his past self was yelling at him right along with Poirot there for a while... :'( :'( Maybe that's why... he repeated Poirot's words from CH1, Page 31: I can't even... "ask you to trust me." OUGH. Poirot standing in front of the door to stop him from leaving though?? DOUBLE-OUGH. Buddy. Where were you planning to go. You have no money. I'm very glad Hastings showed up in Poirot's apartment tho. Can you imagine what would have happened if Hastings had just. Randomly showed up on the street somewhere??? oooooff. At least Poirot will take care of this cute & adorable guy because he's obviously a good boy who just wants to help and. he just happens to look like His Hastings.

You just have to go and break my heart. Poor poor Hastings not certain if he is welcomed by a man he can't tell anything to and can't even ask to trust him. Poor poor baby, he must be so stressed.
