“Tasuku-kun…
That’s so thoughtful of the both of you. You’re both special presents already, you needn’t go through so much trouble. But I–… I’m really grateful. Whatever it is, I’ll treasure it forever”.
“Eheh.. I knew you’d say that...” Ushering the wrapped gift into the elder’s hands, Tasuku couldn’t wait for Aichi to see what they got him. They weren’t expensive items, in fact, they wouldn’t even last too long... but hopefully Aichi would find them in his fancy.
“We couldn’t think of one thing to get you... so it’s a bunch of smaller gifts together..” --Candies, chocolates, Vanguard themed trinkets... silly and almost childish things together, but certainly a lot of heart and thought had been put into them. “Go on!”
“Mama, Happy Birthday! Me and Chrono-Senpai got you a present together..”
“You say that immediately? I’m suspicious. Why would I think you’d have gotten into trouble?
Thank you for the warm welcome though, Tasuku-kun”.
“Haha! Kidding, kidding. I’m just keeping you on your toes.” This is what happens when all he hangs around with is Chrono.
“Hmm? Has Mama gotten a lot prettier while he was away?”
*walks in from the war* Huh… I wonder what the others are doing; I lost track after getting laid up for a bit.
“Welcome back!”
“I haven’t been getting into any trouble, I promise.”
Their Outing
Tasuku’s laughter was a sound that Chrono adored above all else, but the sheer amount of effort he had put into restraining himself was so hilarious that Chrono couldn’t help but burst into a spontaneous fit of laughter as well.
“Snrrk…!”
“Hahahaha! What the heck was that, Tasuku?! You sounded like a pig!”
Laughing too hard to really register the light scolding hits to his arm, the two boys continued their rambunctious play until one of the staff eventually approached them and requested that they quiet down…

It had been a productive day, at least, a shopping bag full of goodies held safely and tight in Tasuku’s hand. But it couldn’t be that easy–Chrono had felt it too, the first sploshes of rain on his face.
“Huh?!”
And suddenly, it was a downpour.
“The hell?! Rain…?”
He didn’t even think next, simply grabbing Tasuku’s hand and dragging him across the street as soon as the light turned. About a block of running in, and they finally stumbled upon a bus shelter, Chrono pulling Tasuku underneath.
“Sheesh… That came outta nowhere. Ah, you’re all wet…”
Pulling a handkerchief out of his pocket, he began dabbing at Tasuku’s damp face.
The shower was relentless, droplets rushing down and drenching them both to the bone. Simply following Chrono’s guidance as he ran at his heels--protecting the gifts as best as he could all the while--Tasuku could barely see in front of him through the droplets barraging his vision. Finally ducking underneath a dry shelter, with room enough for two at least, Tasuku could already feel himself dripping, facing the elder as a dry handkerchief dabbed away at his face. Ah, that was nice..
“Mmnm.. thank you.” Blinking up at Chrono as he felt his bangs being parted away from his eyes, he smiled gratefully, standing up just a little bit straighter now. “You’re soaked too, not to mention you’ll get sick staying like this..” Hand reaching over to touch the elder’s arm, it now felt frigid underneath his finger tips, eyes trailing up as he held his tongue. Suddenly, he was just so... taken aback at how breathtaking Chrono was like this. It was nerve-wracking... His throat was swelling up at the sight of the other’s hair sticking to the back of his slender neck... and of course.. his clothing was hugging his frame in such a way that--- “Sh... should we wait for a bus to come then..?” My heart’s pounding.... I don’t know where to look....
Of course, his eyes averted just as so to avoid that problem..
Their Outing
“Eh…? Huh… You’re right… I never noticed. That’s a pretty cool coincidence. Y’think it’s fate? Heh.”
It was a funny coincidence, yet… It made him feel strangely airy. More light and happy. Like he had something else that would connect him to Aichi. An extra bond… Even if it was something silly like numbers. He couldn’t ignore the elation in Tasuku’s eyes either… Perhaps it was infectious.
“Whoooa! He’ll definitely like this. Let’s keep it for now while we look around some more, okay? If we get him a whole bunch of small little trinkets, it’ll feel like a big gift, wouldn’t it?”
He knew that it wouldn’t matter, that Aichi would appreciate a gift no matter how big or small, but it would sit easier on his mind to give him more than less. Aichi had done so much for not only him, but Tasuku as well, and it just didn’t feel right to give him anything less in return.
And since Tasuku had liked it so much, perhaps it was time for a little ad libbing…
“I bet Aichi-san’s gonna be like “uwawa, this is so pretty! Thank you so much! I’ll treasure it forever!” or somethin’.”
Once again, his voice reached pitches that it never should’ve ventured, making for a very amusing and interesting sound indeed.
A collection of small things as a whole... Tasuku hadn’t even thought of that! “That’s a great idea!” With a new motivation in sight, Tasuku scanned the selection with even more vigor than before, not careful enough to watch himself in Chrono’s goofy presence, however.
“GHHFFHT--!” Oh, no, that had been so loud! Now everyone around them was staring! Not to mention, Tasuku’s nose had almost leaked in the process of snorting so hard-- “Uwaaughh..! Senpaiii!! Hahaha! That was mean!! Hey!!”
Huffing and playfully hitting his arm, Tasuku wasn’t about to get mad or anything, simply too weak towards that lighthearted charm as he fell into another bout of laughter instead. If he could really engrave certain parts of his life into his heart, he was praying that this would definitely be one of them. ---- At the end of a few hours, shopping all done and feet weary from walking all afternoon, the two were waiting at a red light, one bag occupying Tasuku’s hand (adorning Aichi’s newly purchased gifts) as the other held fast to Chrono’s. Fingers smugly intertwined, that head of sky blue curls found itself lazily leaning into the elder’s shoulder, giving a drawn out exhale.
“Phew... I’m a little tired...” After all of that laughing and moving about, Tasuku had every right to claim his status... even if apart of him didn’t want their date to end so suddenly. Although, now that he had the time to stop and look up, he finally noticed the sudden change in weather, grey skies rolling in... “Uh, oh... is it gonna rain..? It was so sunny before. ‘guess we should start heading back..”
((io also asked for assistance on getting aichi a gift, as he will be traveling on the day itself. ibuki suggested eggs. i thought you should know))

Their Outing
Feeling that soft cheek nuzzle against his skin even further, Chrono felt absolutely steamed. He was certain that he’d begin emitting smoke from his ears if this continued on. Still, it was nice to take a relaxing walk through the bustling streets, just window shopping for anything nice…
They probably looked like a young loving couple, didn’t they… Especially with Tasuku tethered to him like this.
“It’d be easier if Aichi-san could just tell us what he wanted, but I bet he’d say something like ‘you’re all I need’… Honestly. Doesn’t help at all…”
Attempting to imitate the older boy’s voice, his impression fell flat on his face. There was no way Chrono could pull off an Aichi act in any way…
“Huh?”
‘My birthday? It’s September 9. Why?”
Not caring for the stares their way, Tasuku was absolutely bathed in bliss, being with his special person, he couldn’t have planned a more perfect day out. However the elder had a good point--Aichi was ever so difficult at times like these (and when Tasuku needed his mutual cooperation the most!), and it was almost impossible to discern what kind of gift to even get him.
“It’d be easier if Aichi-san could just tell us what he wanted, but I bet he’d say something like ‘you’re all I need’… Honestly. Doesn’t help at all…”
“Ffhht.. Pffhh... Hahaha! Was that... was that Aichi-san?! Hahaha! P-please... do it again! Do it again, Senpai! Haha!”
Laughing the loudest he had ever in a long, long time, Tasuku couldn’t even keep himself well composed, curling into himself as he felt tears squeezing from his eyes. Breathless from the fits of giggles, it took a few moments for him to calm down again, sparing a hand to wipe away the residue. Oh, man..! That felt rather refreshing, albeit his insides were so sore! He was glad he had changed the subject to something much more manageable. “Eeh... September 9th, huh. Nine, nine... Whoa, wait! Y’know, your birthday is the flipside of Aichi-san’s! His is June 6th... Six, six...” And given the silly punundrum, 6/6 was indeed a vertical flipping of 9/9. Drawing out the figures with his finger in midair, Tasuku turned to look up at Chrono, a bright grin adoring his lips all the while. “That’s really cool, don’t you think?” It was all so silly... just mindless chitchat to some, but for someone like Tasuku, who hadn’t had anyone to experience something like this before.. it was uplifting. It was hard to ignore the admiration and care in his eyes every time he looked to Chrono for assurance or answers.
“--Oh! Whoa, Senpai, look at this! Wouldn’t Aichi-san really like this?”
Their Outing
“Yeah. …You’re in a pretty good mood, huh.”
Well, he couldn’t blame the kid. Tasuku had been so busy lately the past few weeks that they could only really spend time together on their walks home, or during their quiet evenings together–and even then, it wasn’t much, because Tasuku would pass out only to start it all over again. In that sense, Chrono was also happy.
He tried, he tried so hard not to blush when he felt Tasuku’s little warm cheek against his bare arm, but it was impossible. It just wasn’t possible, because Tasuku was so small and his cheek was so plush and soft and it was pressed against his arm and–
“The forecast said it was gonna be really hot today, so… I mean, it’d suck to overheat on the one day we have together.”
“Besides… You’re here… You’re pretty warm. Uh…”
…Right. This wasn’t helping his burning cheeks at all. Actually, he was quite flustered that Tasuku was so taken by his choice of clothing…
Maybe I’ll wear it more often. Gah…! What am I thinking?!
“Anyway… You said you wanted to look for a gift for Aichi-san, right? Let’s do that first.”
“Eheheh... Understood. I’ll stay close.”
Chrono didn’t have to say anything more at that; looking up and noticing that subtle blush--who would have thought that Chrono could be that... charming as well?--Tasuku opted into teasing him further with another affectionate nuzzle. Feeling the elder’s skin like that... it felt so pleasant.
But regardless of the distractions among them and their feelings, it was a lot of fun just being able to walk downtown so freely, gazing into the shop windows and looking for anything that caught their eye. Of course, Tasuku needed to stay focused given whom the gift was for, but on such an occasion where he could get away with acting his age and fooling around well... He’d take it. All smiles, and at the kind reminder, Tasuku piped up again, suddenly grateful that the inquiry crossed his mind.
“You know... I’ve never even asked for your birthday yet, Chrono-Senpai. When is it...?”
Their Outing
“Aaaahh.. It’s finally getting warmer out! This is so nice...”
Stretching his arms high above his head and taking a deep breath of the fresh spring air, Tasuku looked up to the soaring, fluffy white clouds above, cerise hues shining with mirth. Summer was just about a month’s time away now, bringing a steady close to his first school year together with Chrono. There were still finals that they’d need to cram in soon enough, but for now, he just wanted to indulge himself within his lover’s presence. “I’m glad I got the day off; I’ve really been looking forward to getting to go out with you again.” Sheepishly reaching over and wrapping his arms around the redhead’s in a snug hold, his cheek bumped against the smooth skin of Chrono’s exposed arm, cheeks pinkening a little at the elder’s bold choice of clothing. Not that he’d really complain--Chrono was quite the looker, in fact--but Tasuku was always thinking about the repercussions, of course. “Chrono-Senpai, you’re really getting into the spirit of the weather, huh? You won’t be too chilly like this?” He’d be happy to comply and keep him warm with this simple hug if so be it.
