Catelyn Stark née Tully, Dowager Lady of Winterfell, Cat, Mother.
"Robb, if that sword could bring him back, I should not let you sheathe it until Ned stood at my side once more...But he is gone, and a hundred Whispering Woods would not change that."
Every time I think about Catelyn I weep. Her love compromised by deceit, her care spread too thin by war and the games of power, she is a woman and a mother who is tretched thinner and thinner by her responsibilities and duties as a highborn lady, a leader, a political figure and a mom. She makes extreme decisions time and time again, believing that they are the best choices for her family. They rarely work in her favor, and every good judgement she makes falls on deaf ears. And nothing she does can save her family.
Tabletop wise, she's a pretty reliable buff unit, keeping units alive and un-conditioned. The perfect stats for a lady who only ever hoped for the best.
The revamped Stark Sworn Swords.
"“I could hear the cries floating across the river… sweet cries… when that siege tower went up, gods… would have died then, and glad, if only I could have seen you children first. Was it your boy who did it? Was it your Robb?" - Hoster Tully
There's really a vast gulf of difference in sculpt quality and my own abilities as a painter between this unit and the first iteration. I eventually caved and sold off my original starter set to pick up the newest versions. I suppose I'm just a glutton for punishment. I'm proud of the sort of bluish-light grey I nailed down for their tabards. Tried to capture a Stark white without committing to overly bright ivory.
Included a pic of the old unit, for the sake of contrast.
Sansa Stark, Little Bird "Courtesy is a lady's armor." Finished up the maiden of Winterfell, everyone's favourite captured princess and the....third biggest waste of potential on the show? Fifth? It's hard to gauge. Trying to find the right formula for that bright red Tully hair, but this felt like a good start. Ended up a little bugeyed, but I'm satisfied they're both looking in the same direction.
Samwell Tarly, Sam the Slayer, Ser Piggy, Lord of Ham.
“I found drawings of the faces in the trees, and a book about the tongue of the children of the forest . . . works that even the Citadel doesn’t have."
Samwell the charming little bibliophile. On the tabletop, he's a mirror of Tyrion, expanding your tactics hand and letting you shuffle for cards. Bookwise, Sam always seems in proximity to something spellbinding. Hanging on to what is most likely the Horn of Winter, consorting with Marwyn the Mage and all set to bear witness to Euron's invasion of Oldtown, maybe Sam's casual wish to become a wizard as a boy is closer than he might think....
Drogon "Khaleesi, there sits Balerion, come again." Aggo
The last of the big lizards. Drogon's size and colour scheme really let me play around a bit, with streaks of crimson on his scales and those vibrant red wings that crackle with black. That big crown of red horns might be a bit much, but it does look real pretty.
"The green one shall be Rhaegal, for my valiant brother who died on the green banks of the Trident." - Daenerys Targaryen
The next of the three brothers and the dragoniest looking dragon amongst them. I felt like the contrast is a little sharper on this one, and love that vivid green.
Viserion, the White Dragon. "Viserys was cruel and weak and frightened, yet he was my brother. His dragon will do what he could not." - Daenerys Targaryen
The first of the three big game changers. I fell back on a lot of the techniques I've used painting monsters for the Witcher board game (Minis that I may showcase once I've completed them all). I tried to find different shades of white and cream for their scales and wings, that didn't quite translate on camera. Looking forward to taking a crack at the next two, with much darker color schemes.
His Grace Tommen Baratheon, First of his Name. King of the Andals, The Rhoynar and The First Men. King on the Iron Throne. Lord Paramount of Storm's End. And his Mum.
"Ser Pounce caught a mouse, but Lady Whiskers stole it from him." "Ser Pounce must learn to defend his rights. In this world, the weak are always the victims of the strong." - Tommen Baratheon & Cersei Lannister Satisfied with how these two came out. I elected to give them a less vividly red colour scheme, as Cersei is often described wearing greens to bring out her eyes. The model kind of ended up looking like the world's most awkward Christmas card photo.
Day 2142: taking a break from faffing with the base so just picked out some recessed areas and kept going by painting all the skulls (except for one I missed)
Also in painting I took 2 my battletech mechs off the backlog. Joining the Grey Star(s) of my forces are a Hunchback IIC and a Catapult (K2 variant), who’ll probably not spend too much time next to one another in combat.
☠️ Revenant III ☠️
Another 28mm skeleton that I sculpted and painted, based on my concept art. This one wields a mace and shield.

welp, it seems i can actually make a paintable model in 28mm
