Funny story. Under the cut because I tend to get a bit wordy when asked for a story.
A number of years ago my family took a trip down South to visit with some other family members (as we are wont to do most every year in the Summer) and they have this neat army surplus shop just off the highway. We usually just browse or sometimes get MREs (cause that stuff is tasty and easy to make) but this one particular time we found this amazing black coat. My brother really wanted it but his shoulders were too wide so I tried it on and voila, it fit. I had no idea what to do with it but we bought it anyway cause it was cheap and it was one of the few actual military grade coats that fit me (I'm super itty bitty).
This was before my resurgence of MC obsession, of course, so when I returned to it on a whim and discovered not only seven new main plot flashes (I thought it was over after Apotheosis) but an entire fandom full of art and fics and even the odd Hank cosplayer (all of this on DeviantART). I loved Sanford and Deimos from their first appearance and took a particular shining to Deimos. I made the connection between him being my favorite and the fancy coat and THUS THE POWERPUFF GIRLS WERE BORN, er, well, you get the picture. So I got myself a white t-shirt, a pair of hand-me-down pants from my brother, a Nerf gun that most resembled Deimos's weapon of choice, and (it took me forever and a freaking day to find a plain black visor oh my god and even then I had to paint over the brand logo). Fortunately, besides the coat, I already had a headset microphone and a black pouch (though I need a better one for next time).
As for the design, I tried to play as close to his actual appearance in the flashes but I did stray a bit to a few fandom interpretations.
Speaking of interpretations, I have been working on a Sanford and Deimos prequel fic (that I really ought to get back to) that seems to be pretty popular amongst the fans who've managed to find it. It says eventual slash but I'm trying to avoid bringing that in until waaaaaaaaaay later like after normality is restored in Nevada and the Auditor has been defeated blah blah and BELIEVE ME I have no intention of turning it into a *shudder* yaoi. Nah, this is gonna be as realistic as it can get in terms of relationships.
