The Loneliness of Doing Right . . .

It can be lonely and discouraging sometimes to do the right thing. No one really tells you this when making your way through the world, to go against our need to please people, to fit in, or to “live in the moment”  and do what is easiest and what feels most fun is one of the hardest paths to follow. Aside from the things we seem to miss out on, there is a loneliness that comes when you are not running with the group or living your life as most people around you live. There is rarely any immediate reward or encouragement and mostly you alone will know your sacrifices, but the Bible says to not “become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9. So, if you are feeling discouraged today even if you are living right, keep on going!

Dealing with Disappointment

They say that nothing worth having comes easy. But, what do you do when waiting obediently in faith for a dream or a promise to come to fruition ends in disappointment? How do you pick yourself up when life seems to hand you more than your share of these moments?

Joshua 1:9 says “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” You may feel alone and discouraged but the word of God tells you God still has you in His hands and is working things out for your good. When you want to give up the most after a disappointment or set back, push through so that you can receive the things that God has in store for your future.
