Round 1!
whose baking is better?
John Bridgens
Harry Peglar
bridgens definitely had has clippings of cosy pumpkin baked goods from old school martha stewart mags. he’s the contestant that doesn’t know how skilled he really is and his humility means he’s always the first to comfort anybody having a crash out
elizabeth gaskell has written what i think is the best representation of british culture: the bus driver thought i wanted to get on so they pulled over JUST FOR ME and i can’t possibly explain that it was a mistake so you know what? i’ll just get on this bus that’s leaving this city entirely and heading for the countryside, where i had zero intention of going today, for the sole purpose of avoiding confrontation
(yes i know he did just get pied off but still)
london and nearby friends!! come hang in greenwich park on 9 august
all are welcome, feel free to join our discord to plan and get to know people beforehand
🍿 bring snacks to share if you can 📍 meet at nelson's ship in a bottle ☔️ will adjust plans closer to the day if we're thwarted by weather

Meet Mini-Nedward. Standing 1.5 apples tall, he's fully poseable and comes with his own emergency-lemon and a leather coat with patches of all his favourite bands.
I'm rubbish at sewing, so his clothes are a bit tattered. But I made him as a gift and his now owner is a master of wool and yarn, so perhaps he'll receive a tiny knitted vest or jumper in the future.
Happy @lieutenantfest everyone!
Time cast a spell on you, but you won't forget me.

my best tip for anyone trying to get back into reading is to remember that you can read books to avoid other responsibilities in ur life and it can become a vice if you play your cards right
My therapist always says “reading is a healthy hobby” and every time I’m like “girl not how I do it.”
hms erebus: a woolie
please excuse any rigging and colour inaccuracies, i went off a moodboard of various sources for erebus's shapes and colours, as well as a layperson's eye for what i can only describe as many big ropes. there were so many ropes. i don't understand all the ropes.
sailors woolworks (or woolies) were embroidered tapestries that those at sea wove to pass the time and capture the likeness of their vessels. here's a good article if you're keen to read more about them. but the tl:dr; is that they showed ships broadside, full sail. in embroidery terms, the lack of dimensional detail makes them a surprisingly good project for a beginner!!
as i said to a pal, there's something that feels very beautiful and democratised about creating folk art now, in a time when we've put art, and access to it, on such an expensive and exclusionary pedestal.
this piece of the terror (2018) trivia sent me into the stratosphere
locking in for stephen maturin girl summer (catching lizards and wearing cunty jackets)
it's so difficult to get people into The Terror because, in my opinion, you really have to watch it *at least* twice to get the full experience... like every little detail is a setup for something that happens later, and you don't realize how insane it was at the time until the payoff five episodes later. and then you rewatch and you get to be like Oh My God... That's Why He Did That... and you really have to really lock in when you watch it, like some of the best parts of the show just happen silently and aren't addressed out loud by anyone. also you may need a spreadsheet for characters because there are like 30 unique character arcs happening
okay! she’s finally done. a really good lesson in thread tension (and what not to do) because single strand shows everything and hides nothing. i thought about filling in with satin stitch but decided the e and a would get lost. onwards and upwards, or something like that.
did a little photoshoot with her before she heads off to her new home with @rosenr0te 💖
edit: took a higher better photo in natural light and edited the post to swap it out
