A quiet talk amongst allies (Closed - Morgan)
“Of course it will - logically speaking, should two people hold a similar sensible idea, the odds are higher that it would work if only one person worked on achieving a sensible idea alone - many hands make light work, after all.” Firm, assured nods at the idea being quite likely to work in this logic, the mage felt a wave of content wash over him at knowing that his efforts had aided in the other not feeling like she had to weigh such a burden alone…she didn’t feel alone, and that meant a great deal to him, as childish as he knew such a statement may be.
Though, this warm feeling sadly did not last long at Morgan poking holes in his own modest behavior, he huffing at that. However, seeing as it was all logically sound, there was no response he could give to counter it without sounding childish, as such he did not say a word. He did respond at his last line being called ‘cheesy’ though.
“Well, Sire Chrom and your father said many lines similar to that themselves, you know - thereby, if I picked up this..er…apparent ‘chessiness’ - it is because Robin and Sire Chrom likely said those words to my father - and thus me - so much I myself picked up on them.”
Well….actually a valid point there. (Was that a faint smile from the mage there, as he said that logic? Yes, it was. He was actually capable of SOME humor here and there. It was simply he preferred a more logical way of doing it than most.)
“’Many hands make light work,’ I like that,” she repeated. “I meant more the having the idea than the execution of it, but yeah, that makes a lot of sense too.” She couldn’t help but grin in victory as the ever-modest Laurent accepted her assessment of how he’d supported her so far. She was proud of her small win.
Wait was Laurent talking shit now because it was so on.
“So you’re trying to say that you pull cheesy lines because you got them from your dad, who got them from Chrom and my dad.” She paused. “That makes very little sense. You’re your own person, not any one of them. Sure, you could pick up one or two lines, but it’s not like you’re repeating them verbatim.”
If she were to be honest, she wouldn’t be surprised to find out that her father was generally cheesy. It wasn’t as though she was completely free of it either, and she had to have picked it up somewhere.
Shit. She was refuting her own argument here. At least she didn’t say it out loud.
