Stefan Krauss is a Germany born Crete based self-taught photographer. Utmost elegant minimalism with a masterly play of textures and tones are some of the elements of Krauss’ photography. Between conceptual art and abstraction - or “land art” - his work transcends the purely material to offer us a sober picture of sinuous lines and aesthetic refinement. The use of colour stands out for its clever use of light and the ability to work with pastel tones which enhance feelings of softness, elegance and quietude. His photos seem to be deep meditations on time, light, and nature applicable to both his colour and black and whites. His black and whites take advantage of the strong contrasts, shadows and highlights, to chisel simple images due to their proximity to total abstraction yet remain within his universe of stillness and self-reflection - all timeless images of great inner strength.
