I don't know if I'm just uncultured and have never stumbled across another show like it, but there's something unique to me about the way the pitt is narrated.

obviously it doesn't have an actual 'narrator' character but it just feels very. neutral. there's no music, no or at least less enforced morals (no one is punished by karma for doing something 'wrong', though they may be confronted by another character), we don't even get to see what goes on in their lives outside of the ER! the only glimpses we get are verbal and through patients.

and, honestly, those characters that are designed to let us learn more about the cast are all I can really think of that we get from the show/writers as a method of communicating with us.
