The Emigrants (1971) | dir. Jan Troell
RIP Danjel Andreasson, you would have loved televangelists
The end of The Emigrants when the Nilssons knock on a man's door for the first time in the US and are met with a gun truly is an authentic First America ExperienceTM

low quality barker sketch
Anyone that unironically says that Collie Parker has anger issues, and is always itching to beat someone up for little to no reason.
You will begin coughing in three hours...
this and also there’s something very beautiful about watching in progress fics grow. shout out to in progress fics <3
Fencer Stolson
Hank who’s always been told he can’t be a fencer because he’s too short, but doesn’t let it stop him and says he’ll make up for it with his skill
Stebbins who’s always trained to have the perfect physique for the sport
Hank who picked it up as something to do when he was a kid and continued with it because it was fun
Stebbins who’s convinced that the top fencer of the country is his father, and the only way to get recognised is to get to nationals
Hank who has an unpredictable technique, and the first person to really trip Stebbins up
Stolson is taking over my feed which I’m taking as a sign that the universe(tumblr) wants me to write Stolson

Thinking about my handsome yet shy icon that is collie parker while at work
Hi Ze :) Collie would want to resist capitalism by thinking about him instead of doing your job💖 Boss makes a dollar, you make a dime- think about Collie Parker on company time :) I do this every day, highly recommend. I often ponder his shy lil face in the background...his all his smiles & giggles during the first bit of the Walk & his lil headshake when Pete asks if anybody wants his smokes are so precious to me....look at him....my shy lil guy....
☠️ Art isn't a hard character to write, some people just only like to write white twinks and I'm tired of letting some yall skate by. Despite how good of a launching pad the community and or the trauma of Christianity is, they will just throw a tantrum
True and correct & you should say it!! People love to list excuse after excuse for why there are so few fics centering Art when fact of the matter is it's always come down to racism/colorism- Art's the darkest-skinned character in the cast, most of his strongest/most prominent relationships are with other characters of color & unfortunately the wider fandom tends not to care about poc characters when they aren't tossing em around with a white boy :/ Like literally what makes Art "more difficult" to write than Barkovitch, or Ray, or Stebbins?? Art's a complicated character with a lot of depth, I'm not denying that, there's a great deal you can dive into with him with his empathy, his relationships to death & religion, how he's in many ways a dreamer but he's also so pragmatic because of having grown up in such extreme poverty, his rare but passionate temper, etc, etc, etc- but the white characters who get so much more focus are also equally complicated characters. So why do people so often feel like it's "easier" to write them than Art??? Ultimately I think it comes down to this being a very white fandom and the way white people often struggle (consciously or otherwise) to see & relate to characters of color as people the same way they do with white characters, and this issue is exaggerated/worsened with Art in particular because of colorism :/
A message to the fandom: if a white, atheist since birth woman from the fucking Nordics (me!!!) can write Art, then so can youuuuuuuuuu!
As another white atheist from the nordics — he is not that hard to write! Please!
hank olson you are so me
Very short Art drabble for @collie-parkers-carbine‘s prompt ‘stars’
