Despite reading hitchhiker's a couple years ago, this is the first time I've participated in Towel Day! I had sooooo much fun drawing these, I binge drew em :]]]

This quartet of colourful robots did a pretty decent job of washing my spaceship.... I'll be generous and pay them 16 Ningis each... I hope they don't mind fiddling with small change...

A few days ago, I went to see The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy live show at Riverside Studios London… I absolutely loved it! 

The actors were so fantastic... and… I was not expecting just how much Marvin the Paranoid Android stole my heart! Marvin is one of my favourite characters ever, and I didn’t know what to expect with this new take on him. But oh my god, his voice was perfect, the puppet was amazing quality and the improvised interactions were hilarious. I couldn’t help but watch that puppet the entire show!  I drew the first drawing a day before I saw the show, I wanted to hand it to Marvin (despite his canon hatred for art lol) but unfortunately I didn’t get the opportunity. So I might just have to see the show again and get some more interactions with the metal man himself…

Also added a couple of doodles of my favourite moments and interactions!

Ohhh I love the Succ-u-bus! Such a weird but great character. I also just love the fact that he was voiced by Douglas Adams himself. He's a lot like Marvin the Paranoid Android, but, in my opinion, even more miserable (perhaps that is just because his voice is so dreary LOL).

I love all of the robots, but I'd have to say that Fortillian and Fentible are my faves!

Happy gift exchange to @brunetteconfection!!! And thank you so much to the admin behind @H2G2-Gift-Exchange for putting together such a lovely event!

 @brunetteconfection’s main prompt was a map of the H2G2 Universe with key locations from the first book! When I tell you I was absolutely delighted to receive this prompt!!! I love illustrating things like this, and wanted to make it as in-universe as possible! I apologise if there are any mistakes or incorrect details. The franchise has one hell of a lot of lore! 

I spent quite a bit of time adding all the little references and details I could!!! They were all so much fun... my personal fave was the Small Furry Creature from Alpha Centauri. Evolution's greatest creation.

Anyway, I really hope that this is the sort of thing you were expecting!!! This was an absolute joy to draw, seriously, what a fantastic prompt! Thanks so much again to the admin for hosting such a great event. This was such a lovely excuse to draw some more Hitchhikers world-building!!! 

Please let me know if you want it in high quality! The file is absolutely huge, however, of course Tumblr butchered the quality!

First of all, your sona is soooo cool!! And I love the unreciprocated 'We're besties' dynamic, hilarious

I had a bunch of fun rendering their outfit!! I don't usually do so, it was a nice change of pace

I hope this lil guy is in fact, a mulch dog? I googled it since I'm not much of a dog person, but I hope you like it :]

Was Marvin ever clean? Or did they make him perpetually gunky

Oh yeahhhh he used to be clean alright!! He was designed to be visually appealing, a robot that someone would be proud to have in their spaceship or house. He had a shiny, clean exterior and an almost noble "gladiator" appearance. Of course, despite his impressive design, he has always been slouchy and miserable from the very beginning... holy posture.

After all those years of existence, of course he'd have a ton of his parts removed and look much rougher! Who knows, he'd probably been repainted with every conceivable colour throughout the centuries by the people who attempted to like him. It was probably Zaphod's idea to paint him a glamorous purple... but it came out looking a bit more depressing than he expected... I like to imagine that Zaphod also gave him those funky leg warmers. Marvin hates them, but unfortunately, he cannot reach that far down to take them off 💔

whoopeyyy I'm back

Hello again everyone!! Sorry for the recent inactivity! I've had the busiest few weeks of my life... anyways whatever, back to Hitchhikers posting...

Have a Marvin from a while back. I modelled his costume as accurately as possible to the 1981 design in Maya. I’m still pretty happy with how this guy turned out! I’ve learned a lot about Maya since then, but I think he still holds up :)

I really appreciate all the asks I've received so far, and will be replying to all of them very shortly! I'll try to be more active on here again. I hope you all are having a great Christmas season so far!

My personal takes on the H2G2 cops, Shooty and BangBang! Although their roles in the franchise are fairly small, I find them to be very fun characters. I loved their costume designs in the tv series, but wanted them to appear more machine/alien-like. I might have another go at designing them sometime in the future.

They're so annoying though...

Although this is a Hitchhiker’s-related blog, I wanted to share my appreciation for another one of Douglas Adams’ works, Starship Titanic. 

Starship Titanic was a video game developed in 1998 by Douglas Adams. My god, what a gorgeous game! It's got fantastic art deco designs, lots of robots, old 90s vibes… what more could you possibly want? Oh, and there are H2G2 references sprinkled around for good measure! It is pretty niche, but if you’re a fan of Douglas Adams… you’ll LOVE Starship Titanic!! I need more people to know about it! Please I'm begging for Starship Titanic moots 🙏

This isn’t selfship btw, they’re besties, or at least that’s what my sona thinks. Marvin sees it more as having to put up with a pest. Oh well.
