the joy of explaining an absolutely batshit insane Star Trek episode to a non-fan and getting to end it with “and it is never mentioned again”
HAPPY THRESHOLD DAY from The Curiosity…. crew? Oh no
tpol looks like this to me
normalest space station in federation history
This isn’t unique to Star Trek of course, but I do think it’s so funny how the normal amount of time it takes to respond to a comm or a hail from someone else is entirely dependent on whose perspective we’re seeing it from. If someone tries to use their combadge to contact someone else and they don’t respond within 2-3 seconds, that’s immediate cause for alarm. If, however, we’re watching a character who receives a communication from someone else, they’ll often finish up whatever they were doing before responding and no one will be alarmed at all. Or sometimes when our protagonist ship hails another ship, they’ll say “no response” approximately three seconds after sending out the hail. But if another ship hails them, they’ll often have a whole little debate before responding. Obviously this is necessary for pacing (who wants a twenty second pause of complete silence waiting for a response in the middle of a scene), but also it’s just one of those fun, charming things about Star Trek that makes no sense whatsoever.
Star trek is crazy because when it’s trying to be romantic, I find it the most cringe worthy thing in the world, and then Kirk and Spock will have “platonic” lines to each other that are so earth shatteringly romantic that I want to burst into flames
A standard star trek rule is any romance the writers try to write intentionally won't work at all, but the ship that they desperately try to keep from happening cannot be denied
So while I’m home over the summer, my mom’s been showing me and my brother Babylon 5, we’ve just watched the first episode of season 2. And Im sure there’s more to it, but it’s so funny after all this build up with Delenn and her cocoon to watch the opening credits and see that her big transformation was… that she got a hair transplant???
has this been done yet
SPOCK SHIMP!!! SHROMP!!
Sprimp if you will?
the only time it was actually funny and entertaining when a "ship" was "confirmed" by someone who worked on the show was when someone asked rene auberjonois at a panel what the nature of quark and odo's relationship was and he replied "sexual." without elaboration
