What kind of things could a Sylph of Mind do?

wow is itweird that I was thinking of this title right before the ask came in

Sylph: “supports through healing of [x]”, activecounterpart to Seer.

Mind: thoughts, ideas, decisions.

“Supports through healing of thoughts, ideas,decisions”.

Clear andcut: the Sylph of Mind will mainly getrid of any “negative” thoughts. I believe the definition of negativitywould be influenced by the Sylph’s norms, thus, for example, if they thinkkilling someone is casual and positive, then they wouldn’t be able to change akilling thought from one’s mind for a non-dangerous one. This then limits theSylph of Mind’s powers, so that they do not resemble the Witch of Mind as much.

But howwould they know about the thought in the first place if it isn’t exposed to theeye and ears? The Sylph of Mind probably cannotread minds, nor prevent negative ideas. It will be her role to detect thesethoughts and change them for the better before the person acts. A Prince ofMind would easily destroy the idea completely, while the Sylph would turn theminto a positive one.

A pre-ascensionSylph of Mind could be a good moderator among the team, finding people thatcould attempt causing harm to others and setting them on the right path. Evenafter reaching god tier, they would need to continue this role, with more easethan before. I would likely see a bearer of this title auspisticizing for twoothers, or being in a moirallegiance.

Seer: “supports through foreknowledge of [x]”, passive counterpart to Sylph.

Void: emptiness, lack.

“Supports through foreknowledge of emptiness, lack”.

The Seer of Void, in short, sees where it lacks of something. What exactly? Anything, I believe: life, soul, objects… This might sound that it’s stepping a lot into others Seers’ territory. Though, this Seer only knows if something is missing in particular. After ascension, they’d instantly know if a body lacks of life or soul, for example. In short, they’d know where something is not.

How would this help in a session? It’s basically like a reversed Seer of Space, they have to guess where things are from where they aren’t. They’d know when it’s too late. I guess it saves some time, since they don’t have to run there and realize there’s nothing. If an enemy was sending them threats of, for example, having a dangerous weapon in their possession, the Seer of Void will know if they’re bluffing or not (if they lack of the weapon).

This all may sound “useless”, but I believe that every title has a significant role in a session, so I’m providing you material over the Seer of Void; it’s now up to you to create an interesting story out of this. Sylphs and Seers are very supportive classes and act generally passively, but that didn’t stop Rose from being a fierce adversary and Aranea from changing the entire course of the timeline, didn’t it?

YISSS DOOM PLAYERS FINALLY

hmm well first Pages have a fine booty I mean they are basically OP characters but the dorkiest personality you can ever imagine so take a while to do something with their OP powers. yea. also who knows what Doom is but I took my shot at it haha

Page: “become [x]”, active counterpart to Heir.

Doom: sacrifice, fate, rules.

“Become sacrifice, fate, rules”.

Pages, and I quote our dear anime haired bro: “Pages have a lot of untapped potential. That’s practically all there is to the class, actually.” Yeah, these guys hide something under their tiny-ass capes. Jake legitimately recreated a complete copy of Dirk, powers and everything, and deflected Jade’s green sun beam. When to the point of their full potential (which, I’d like to point out, isn’t necessarily god tier), they can basically do anything with their aspect. You can see how I associated this with Heir.

So what’s Doom? From what we’ve seen of the two cutiie bee2 brother2, it seems to be strongly linked with sacrifice, fate and death. Translation of Page of Doom: someone with a lot of potential in fate, sacrifice and death. Fairly simple, this Page’s role in their session will highly resemble a huge sacrifice to change the course of events, thus “becoming fate”. Since Pages tend to lack of their aspect throughout the game (Tavros had his freedom limited by Vriska, Jake was hopeless…), the Page of Doom, for example, could be seen as useless by his teammates for quite a while (DON’T GET OFFENDED PLS I’M JUST SPECULATING).

Aside this, the Page of Doom would have difficulty bringing death upon others and/or enemies. Near realization of full potential, they will start getting good at killing I believe. Generally speaking, Page of Doom have high chances of being a key player in your session (most of Doom players actually). Their role will be significant at the right moment, but they will have to grasp for it. They will have to achieve this path in order to accomplish themselves, become fate and change the outcome of their session.

They steal freedom for their teammates... So like Frank Morris in "Escape from Alcatraz"? Rogue: “steals [through] [x] for the benefit of others”, passive counterpart to Thief.

Breath: freedom, wind, flow.

“Steals [through] freedom, wind, flow for the benefit of others”.

A jailbreaker might sound as the Rogue of Breath’s only role, yes. But, as usual, let’s dig deeper than that. I believe this Rogue could free anyone from what’s holding them back, psychologically or physically. For example, Tavros had his life controlled by Vriska; he was her puppet. A Rogue of Breath could have helped him break out from these chains; even one who haven’t ascended yet could be generally good at dealing with this kind of situation.

Does death count as a freedom breaker? Why not. But, because we’re falling into Life territory, the circumstances of the death might have to be pretty specific. I have to admit I’m entirely sure of what precisely. We could think of if someone has a role to accomplish and see their “freedom of movement” restricted in the dream bubbles, the Rogue of Breath could very possibly buy them some time and supply them in “breath”. Aside that, I believe they could give breath to anyone who’s dying for extra time.

Of course, this is waaay too much looking like a Sylph of Breath. The difference? The Rogue would need a target to steal from. Rogues seem to steal from the very essence of their aspect unlike the Thieves, so would the Rogue of Breath steal from their world’s freedom? Possibly, if they don’t use it too much. They may also be able to steal from a person or an enemy to give it to another, who knows. If so, they could steal their enemies’ breath and stuff it into one >:]

Would a Rogue of Breath be able to do the windy thing? Hell yeah they would. They can simply steal some strong winds in different directions and bam tornado. It’s probably not as easy to do as an Heir, but still very possible. Be creative!

So I started a session with my friends and one of them got the sylph of time, and I don't think they can repair the alpha timeline like John did... Because time is a "fixed" reality, what can a sylph of time do without their powers clashing with a seer or something? Please share your wisdom with us mortals :33 -karkat butt anon

I literally spend the entire night thinking about this Sylph of Time because you are absolutely right but I think I finally figured this out haha

Class: “supports through healing of [x]”, active counterpart to Seer.

Aspect: timelines, loops.

“Supports through healing of timelines and loops”.

John is causing paradox throughout the timeline for sure, but doing such a thing is out of the Time players’ reach. A paradox, though, happens when someone travels in the past to accomplish this (note: Dave saving John from his denizen was considered a stable time loop because his death probably caused the doomed timeline). This is where the Sylph of Time comes in: they will have to heal the timeline before it happens.

Where would it differ from the Seer? Well I believe they will have to gather their necessary information by time traveling and finding the mistakes. So when they come back to their present, they can avoid the problem, for example, by inciting a friend on changing their mind on a decision which could cause the failure of their session (or, if the Sylph of Time has other plans in mind, encouraging that failure; the Alpha trolls’ session was destined to fail, so if they had a Sylph of Time around, they’d need to make sure it would happen).

This role might make the Sylph sound a bit strange, but always right, like their Seer counterpart. During the game, they sound like they’d randomly contact their teammates, tell you something about what or what not to do, and go back to time traveling. Pretty mysterious buddies, yeah.

Characteristics*: organized, hard-worker, curious.

What kind of abilities do you believe a Sylph of Heart would possess?

dem Sylphs :U the legendary wonder of “what the hell do they do”

pretty much everyone agrees that they’re a healing class, so what do with Heart?? sit down at their office and analyze your emotions?? hell nah bro

Sylph: “supports through healing of [x]”, active counterpart to Seer.

Heart: emotions, soul, splinters of self.

“Supports through healing of emotions, soul, splinters of self”.

Fairly a straightforward title! But probably why you sent this ask is because a Sylph of Heart can’t just possibly be a very good psychologist. Of course, Sburb ain’t like that. They will have to help their teammates with their issues, but their role extends further than that.

Sort of like a Sylph of Mind, I believe Sylphs of Heart could heal people and enemies’ negative emotions towards them or their teammates. A non-god tier one may be able to achieve this with words, but one that has ascended could do this in a second. Additionally, they can snap people out of mind control, thus fixing their soul. In the same way, I believe they can make anyone realize their true self.

This title seems to show incredible support for the team, but in the case of an “evil” Sylph, they could likely detect people like Gamzee, and heal them at their advantage.

Aside this, a Sylph of Heart’s role in a session would be to keep everyone in line, and to control the flow of enemies by deriving them from their original goal. They will be the first to detect if someone’s not alright in the team, and will be able to help them if that’s what they wish.

Characteristics*: alert, very good talkers, emotion analysts.

Could you tell me about the knight of heart? If my role is to make souls (people) into weapons, it'll clash with the knight of blood or something and I don't get it :/ (*whisper* and lets talk about some rude butts, like Vantas' glorious butt)

ah yes the eternal question of Knights of Heart

well in my headcanon they aren’t so much of the same :u they would actually resemble Rage players haha

“Exploits [as a weapon] emotions, soul, splinters of self to protect”.

A Knight appears to exploit his aspect on himself, seeing that Dave time traveled, but never froze someone in time like Aradia. Karkat claimed himself leader, so he ‘weaponized’ his trust and unity in order to make his team work as one.

So what would be a Knight of Heart? I believe it would be, among the other Knights, the one that would use themselves as a weapon the most, since Heart represents one’s soul, emotions and self. To exploit their emotions, they could, for example, fill themselves with rage, giving themselves a boost (yes, this clashes with Rage players, but it happens). But, most of all, one of their main attributes would be their splinters of self. A god tier Knight of Heart could project multiple versions of themselves into battle, resembling Aradia’s army of soulbots. I don’t believe these versions would be as realistic as Jake’s recreation of Dirk, but more like a bunch of pink shadows aiming for the enemy.

Their role would consist of supplying as much backup as possible during a fight. I imagine the Knight of Heart as the one checking on all of their friends, volunteering for help as much as possible, trying to be everywhere at the same time throughout the game. But, of course, anyone is prone to changing sides, and this title isn’t an exception. They can be as much of a rude butt as you wish. Finally, since Knights tend to exploit their aspect early in the game, they could be working with the Time player to get some of alternate timeline selves sometimes (just an idea).

Characteristics*: devoted, divided between choices easily, attempts accomplishing many things at once often.

What's your take on the abilities of a Knight of Space?

in my opinion the Knight of Space’s powers would resemble quite a lot to the Witch’s, but in a different way!

Knight: “exploits [as a weapon] [x] to protect”, active counterpart to Maid.

Space: speed/distance, size, creativity.

“Exploits [as a weapon] speed/distance, size, creativity to protect”.

A Knight’s powers appear pretty straightforward in canon: Dave could mess with the flow of time, Karkat lead his team… How does it differ from the Witch and the Maid’s powers then? I believe where the line is traced where they use their aspect. Jade could manipulate basically anything, Aradia could affect others with time, while Dave doesn’t appear to be able to apply his Time powers to others! We only have seen him time travel by himself.

So a Knight of Space could exploit his own speed and size to achieve his role (to protect). They could become bigger, accelerate, teleport, and modify their appearance (“exploit creativity”). Unlike the Maid, the Knight of Space would have an offensive role, directly attacking the enemy using themselves as a weapon, in order to protect for what they fight for.

Knights appear to have quickly a hold of their aspect, even before ascension, so I imagine the Knight of Space to make very good use of the Alchemiter, or would create a device for teleportation. They would of course have to take care of the frog breeding, and contrary to the popular belief of “all Space players need Knights to breed the frog!!!” they can accomplish this role with whoever they like, including no one.

Characteristics*: warrior spirit, creative, fights for what they believe in actively.
