The thing they do with the dragons in ffxiv is that the sheer oppressive size of them hides the fact that Nidhogg and Hraesvelgr have these pathetic neurotic personalities that would seem completely absurd if they weren't huge, and then they show you some well adjusted dragons and you realise they're just absurd, period. Hraesvelgr is depression-nesting in his room until you bring his DAD to come YELL AT HIM to deal with his rampaging brother that is what happens in heavensward

The MCH job stone is blank because in the setting of XIV guns are not widespread and machinistry is a new discipline, with the WoL being one of the first. This means that none of the MCH skills are inherited from previous generations of Machinists, because there aren't any.

Your MCH job trainer, Stephanivien, mentions inventing a few of the devices the WoL uses as a MCH, such as the Aetherocharger, Rook Autoturret, Wildfire bomb, Autocrossbow and Drill shot, but this only goes up to about level 60. From 61 onwards, new devices and abilities the WoL gets as a MCH are of their own design and invention.

Such devices include:

Modifying the Autocrossbow to fire alternate ammunition

The Air Anchor, a projectile that shreds its target by deploying harpoons on impact

A pair of circular saws connected by a length of chain that is fired from a personel weapon

A fast acting chemical weapon

A flamethrower

Converting the Rook into the Automaton Queen, a bipedal battle robot with a pilebunker

A pump action shotgun

An upscaled version of the Rook that functions as a satellite laser (LB3)

The WoL as a MCH is canonically just as capable of an inventor as Cid, but all their creative energy goes towards weapons of incredible violence.
