if you are unaware, everyone under the age of 16 in Australia will NO LONGER BE ALLOWED TO HAVE SOCIAL MEDIA. this includes, Spotify, discord, youtube, and such a long unreasonable list it is insane.
not only, will this ban completely isolate children who have no where to go BUT the internet, be left alone, but adults will also be asked to send images of their ID’s, faces, and more.
There is no guarantee it will be deleted.

While the goal of protecting young people is important, a full ban takes away their rights and opportunities instead of solving the real problems. Social media helps young people learn, connect, and express themselves.
Many teens use it to find support, especially those who feel isolated or belong to minority groups. It also allows young creators and small business owners to share their work and earn money. Taking that away limits creativity, education, and future opportunities.
The ban could also worsen mental health. Without online support networks, some teens may feel alone and helpless, leading to higher risks of depression and suicide. Losing safe spaces to talk or seek help online removes an important lifeline for many. It may also cause more youth crime.
Without ways to connect or express themselves, some young people may turn to risky or illegal activities out of boredom or frustration. The ban creates privacy risks too. Enforcing it would require collecting ID or facial scans, which could expose personal data. Many would also try to lie about their age, making it harder to control. Instead of banning social media, the government should teach digital safety, promote healthy online habits, and make platforms more responsible. Young people deserve to be part of the digital world safely and with their voices heard.

i have really bad rejection sensitivity so this kinda stuff hits but just. a ler who can sense when you're spiraling. when you're starting to feel afraid of things you know won't really happen. anxious, abandoned, left out, whatever- but having all of that immediately shut down with a couple scribbles to... well, anywhere. your insecurity met with a soothing smile... but some strangely glinting eyes to match...
or maybe you tell them yourself. it's hard being vulnerable or asking for reassurance but you do it anyway- begrudgingly, and the discomfort and dread that swirls around in your chest during and after you do so feels like it's about to kill you. until that heavy ache is replaced with frantic butterflies, at least, because suddenly you're having your sides squeezed and a hand scribbling across your belly.
tickled so much that you can't overthink anymore, because you can't think at all, not about anything beyond how badly the fingers wiggling around in the crook of your neck tickle, or how much you want to squirm when they scribble their fingers in your underarms, or when they somehow reassure and tease you in the same sentence so they comfort and fluster you simultaneously-
