TK Pregame 04.25.21

Carchidi: Yeah TK, I know you’re pretty close with Nolan Patrick. Is there anything you say to him—he’s obviously had a tough year. Do you think the long layoff last year has played a part in his season this year?

TK: Any time off for any player is difficult, and to that extent, it had to be really hard for him–and that’s not even touching on what he went through. So I’m sure it plays into how he feels, or what could’ve went better for him in certain things, but as far as me chatting with him, he’s been great this year. The way he’s handled it, he’s been in good spirits. He’s always smiling around the rink and he’s working hard trying to get back to where he wants to get to, and he’s just fun to be around. So as much as he feels like he might not be where he’s wanting to be at, he’s still a good teammate every day. So, he’s good.

“When I was younger, you seem to get down on yourself a lot and sometimes for things that you can’t control,” Simmonds said. “To have a voice there letting you know, ‘You can’t control that. Control what you can control and keep playing your game,’ some guy just coming up and giving you a pat on the butt and letting you know it wasn’t your fault or something like that, it goes a long way and it helps build confidence. It helps you keep your head on straight.”
