Hello, fellow Tumblians (it sounds nice). I’m going to give a spiel about my experience and move into the real point of this post.
As an introvert, I shied away from doing a lot of the necessary things I needed to do when growing up. Instead of sticking with the brick and mortar type of schooling, I ended up doing online schooling (though, that didn’t entirely have to do with my being an introvert as it did with a series of unfortunate, traumatizing events).
With online schooling and being a physical hermit, I didn’t get out as much as I should have. I stayed inside and I wrote–being a creative writer was always the thing I clung to as I grew up. I went on to get a Bachelors in Technical Communications with an Emphasis in Writing. After I did this, I proceeded to job hunt with little success. Fast forwarding in time: I went on to get a Masters in English and Creative Writing (also through an online program).
During my graduate experience, I did an online internship with Study Breaks Magazine (link to my work: https://studybreaks.com/author/terrica-singletary-southern-new-hampshire-university/) and it was an enjoyable experience. Anyone looking to learn the ropes of publication should give it a go. Anyhow, after graduating, I got a part-time job with Brainfuse–whom I’ve been working for since April 2017. I even got a job with GameSkinny (link to my work: https://www.gameskinny.com/gs/tmsingle/) earlier this year, along with another remote job at Textbroker International. So far, I’ve been enjoying my work. It does not pay as much as I would like, but it’s still a start, especially with my experience not being as extensive as it could be.
Now, let me get into the reason why I’m still doing remote work. In June 2016, my mother suffered a Hemorrhagic stroke, or what they told us a “bleeding stroke”. She went into the hospital on Father’s Day that Sunday, had an infection that Monday, got pneumonia in her lungs from the infection, and suffered heart damage. It gets even more dramatic, because just as we thought she was out of the woods, she suffered from Transient ischemic attack (TIA)–which is a medical way of saying she had mini strokes. She had mini strokes throughout a section of her brain, if I recall the doctor’s (who turned out to be an intern) phrasing. This last stroke attack basically restarted her brain and temporarily took her vision in her right eye.
She came out of the hospital on July 12th (my birthday, which was a nice gift); however, she came out vastly different than when she went in. She went from being able to handle her business and the family’s business to barely being able to handle her business. As I’m close to my mom (she’s my best friend), you can imagine how traumatized I was throughout the situation. My mom, who wasn’t the perfect image of health, now has to deal with being on blood pressure medicine, no peripheral vision in her right eye, and struggling with basic thought at times. She’s certainly better off than she could be, but I still want more for her.
With my dad being a retired veteran dealing with PTSD, which leads into its own stressful issues, my days are pretty much full with him and my mom. So, remote work is the best I’ve got right now. I’m searching for a better job and hoping to find one that will give me the financial relief I need.
Now, the reason I have made this post is because of my mom. Bills are always a struggle and a stressor. As she does deal with difficulty in keeping her blood pressure low, I want to make her life as stress-less as I can. So, I started a Ko-fi in hopes of raising a little money to gift her with. She deserves it. She’s been in my corner since day one. She’s so supportive of my writing. She seriously believes in me, which is insane to me since I barely believe in myself. I want to be able to gift her with a breath of fresh air. So, it’s my hope that, through Ko-fi and Tumblr, I can raise a little money to give her.
I’m not trying to pay her bills for the rest of her life, but if I can give her a month of relief, that would be something. Until I can get a job that will support myself and her, I am hoping to get a little funding to help her out.
So, if you’re able to donate anything at all ($1 would be a $1 more than I have right now), I would be appreciative. The Ko-fi link is up above, my Paypal is through the email of [email protected], and my Cash App is $TMSingletary712. If you’d like a short story or poem or something of that nature in return, let me know. I need to flex my creative writing juices.
Anyways, thank you so much for listening. <3 Share or reblog if you don’t mind. <33 Thank you!
To those paying attention to my Ko-fi so far, if you are interested in seeing my writing, I’ve put some things up! :D I’ve also made a promise to showcase chapters from the novel I’m working on once I reach a specific percent of the goal. Let me know your thoughts! 8D
So, I’ve gotten a few cash app donations. I’ll send them to my Ko-fi account when it hits at least $27, I think.
On another note, I really think I might try to do a daily drabble from a writing prompt to post in my news feed on my Ko-fi. @spidrei
This is motivating me to get back into writing. :)
The fact that I’m already at 10% in my goal is encouraging. <3 I cannot wait to start posting pieces of my novel when I get to a higher percentage. Thank you to everyone who has reblogged and shared and just been overall supportive thus far. You all rock! <3
Hello all. I’ve been sick this past week, so I’ve not gotten to really update my Ko-fi account recently. It’s my hope to have something new up once I’m feeling better. Anyways, I have been getting Cash App donations still. It’s really encouraging. Thank you all!
I managed to get my mom sick, too. Apparently, because of her medication, she cannot take anything for her cold/sinus infection. Send positive thoughts and prayers! <3
Update on donations: I cannot put the Cash App donations into Ko-fi. Anyone have any idea why? o.o
Listening to mom talk about bills and stress makes this all the more special to me. Like I said, I know it won’t take care of all of her needs, but it’ll certainly give her a month’s relief or a chance for bigger savings. c:
So, I’ve decided to get back on Etsy for additional work! :) Hopefully, I’ll be able to add new listings soon! If you require any writing assistance (resume, CV, job application, profile information, academic papers, creative writing papers, etc.), feel free to reach out to me on here, Etsy, or my email.
It’s amazing how I’m a hermit, but being snowed in is driving me crazy. Maybe it’s more to do with the people who are also snowed in with me. xD Oh well.
Anyways! Update: I’m at 18% of my goal, which is so awesome! I am feeling thankful and optimistic. <3333
As I looked over mom’s bills, I decided to change the goal a little. This is going to end up becoming a personal thing with the occasional help from you all. : ) Thank you.
Happy Holidays, everyone!
This has been an interesting holiday season. It’s also made me more determine in my goal. Take care, everyone!
Big expenses just won’t go away. Boo…
Happy New Year, everyone! I’m 9% into my goal, which is honestly more than I expected at this point. <3
Well, I’m dealing with some issues. My laptop is acting up because of a cooling fan problem, but I’m hopeful it’ll be resolved soon. I hope everyone is doing well!
I need to get a more consistent job.
Adult life is exhausting me, y’all. Gotta keep on trucking though, right?
It’s me, I’m still alive shockingly. Things are so crazy in the world right now. Everyone keep track of your mental health. Hang in there. <3

They’re only about 1.2 million away, and a couple of weeks ago they were 4 million away. There’s a good chance that with a bit of noise made about this, they could rally for that home stretch. This would be a good time to tell your family, friends, co-workers about the project, as there are many people interested in donating to charities at this time of the year. Once you choose a donation amount, you can also select that it is a gift for someone else, if you’re interested in gift ideas.
If nothing else, please help pass on the news here!

“ballet isn’t a sport”
The thing about this is, you can barely see their muscles straining from effort. The effort to keep each other and themselves balanced, definitely, but that guy’s hand is barely shaking. The amount of training and strength and balance to go into this is fucking insane.
Ballet is raw AF
If you are outside India, I am practically begging you to reblog this
Last week India passed a blatantly anti-Muslim law that seeks to naturalise millions of immigrants, except if they are Muslims.
In August of this year, India revoked the autonomous status of the Kashmir region, putting a communication blackout on the state. Kashmir has entered the fifth month of no internet and heaviest militarisation of any region in the world.
India is a secular, socialist republic. This bill is anti-constitutional and against the principles on which the country was founded
Naturally, there have been protests across the country. At the forefront of the protests are students from India's public universities.
Police opened fire on peaceful protestors in Jamia Milia Islamia University in Delhi, and Aligarh Muslim University in Uttar Pradesh.
Ever since then, the ruling fascist Hindu nationalist political party, the BJP, has been doctoring videos and sending fake news all over the internet, discrediting protestors and labelling them as terrorists
India has already seen too much religious violence, please please signal boost this, call your representatives, make them aware, get them to make statements. The only thing India and its dictator Modi care about is its image abroad
Strawberries going ❤🍓

working full time is terrible why do we just accept that having 8 days off a month is normal and okay........ being alive could be cool but we waste it at our JOBS.... sorry i’m just heated about capitalism again i’ll be fine
8 days....never thought about it like that 😓
This seems really whiny to me. Like, I agree with you, work sucks, but our ancestors didn’t get to browse tumblr at their desks or have the option to gleefully spend their ENTIRE WEEKENDS horizontal on the couch stuffing their faces/watching tv/playing video games/wacking off. They didn’t have weekends. They just slaved away as fucking peasants from dawn to dusk until they died in childbirth or got the consumption.
I am perfectly happy working 8 hrs a day because I don’t have to:
grow my own food
find my own clean water
heat my house
shit in the woods
Hi, I study social and cultural anthropology. Humans working 40+ hours a week is 100% an industrial revolution thing and was not normal in the early stages of our existence. In fact, hunter and gatherer societies that still exist to this day spend about 15-20 hours a week TOPS working. The rest is dedicated to sitting around and telling stories and jokes, dancing, singing, eating, sleeping, fucking and so forth. Read a damn book.
Medieval peasants lived grueling, terrible lives. But their vacation days beat out the policies now common even in progressive societies.
Black Butler in a nutshell.
The Ouran manga invented the upgrade meme before any of us.
So this seems dumb…and it is…but it’s dumb with a purpose. I can almost guarantee you the exact line of reasoning that gets NASA engineers to 100.
Ok, first of all assume the worst and assume she needs the max amount of tampons possible for all days. Now lets count it up.
7 days? Better be safe and make it 10.
3 tampons a day at worst? Better be safe and make it 5.
So that gives us 50 tampons. Ok. Double it.
And that’s how you get 100.
It’s ridiculous, but NASA has a culture of “overengineer absolutely everything to do with human safety, and then design around it” which is actually pretty cool.
Listen, I know this gets made fun of so much, but like I am a woman who has periods and I have absolutely no idea how many tampons a woman requires in a week. I use primarily pads. But these men, at the least, ASKED her instead of making unfounded assumptions.
Which would you rather be:
A. The NASA Director Who Sent Too Many?
B. The NASA Director Who Didn’t Send Enough?
octopuses die after they have sex for the first time by the way. and squidward just happens to still be alive and well.
I hate to disappoint the finest minds on tumblr but
Gallery of fake fans right here.
The presence of Squilliam Fancypants would suggest that “Squi-“ is simply a common prefix for octopus names, likely one with great cultural significance and meaning
his name is squilliam fancySON we are exposing TOO many fake fans tonight
squidward has only 6 tentacles. OCTOpuses have 8 (hence the prefix). the creator is a marine biologist, this isnt some rookie design mistake. literally anyone who has watched the show for 5 minutes would know this come on now yall….
you dont get to decide whether or not all the octopuses in the show’s lack of tentacles is or isnt a design choice when its already BEEN CONFIRMED BEFORE THAT HES AN OCTOPUS IN A MULTITUDE OF OFFICIAL MATERIALS. also, there are actual squids on the show:
Also where is everyone in the notes getting the idea that 8 tentacles=octopuses and 6 tentacles=squids. Squids don’t have 6 tentacles. Squids have 10 limbs, 2 of which are tentacles and 8 of which are legs that look like tentacles.
this started as an argument about squidward being an adult virgin
once when i was 9 in animal crossing wild world i sent a breakup letter to jeremiah telling him it was over because i found someone new…. that was better than him. i told him i was in love with Crazy Redd now and that he couldnt compete cuz “hes a kitsune and youre just a frog.”
so eventually jeremiah moved to my friend’s town…. only i didnt know that villagers will show old letters. so then one day i get a goddamn phone call. an actual goddamn phone call. from my friend and she says: “hey, i saw your letter about dating crazy redd–” and i hung up on her instantly.
Friend: Hey I saw your letter–
OP:
IT WAS EXACTLY LIKE THIS ACTUALLY you know when you like panic and your eyes unfocus? It looks exactly like this.
