Hey. Why isn’t the moon landing a national holiday in the US. Isn’t that fucked up? Does anyone else think that’s absurd?
It was a huge milestone of scientific and technological advancement. (Plus, at the time, politically significant). Humanity went to space! We set foot on a celestial body that was not earth for the first time in human history! That’s a big deal! I’ve never thought about it before but now that I have, it’s ridiculous to me that that’s not part of our everyday lives and the public consciousness anymore. Why don’t we have a public holiday and a family barbecue about it. Why have I never seen the original broadcast of the moon landing? It should be all over the news every year!
It’s July 20th. That’s the day of the moon landing. Next year is going to be the 54th anniversary. I’m ordering astronaut shaped cookie cutters on Etsy and I’m going to have a goddamn potluck. You’re all invited.

Trust me I love my stupid ass mormon boys just as much as the next guy but listen it does really say something about people’s biases when 99.99999999% of TBOM fanart are pieces of all these white guys when there is a whole village ensemble of black people who have an equal (if not greater) amount of screentime to the mormons — NOT TO MENTION the black female main character who is absolutely gorgeous and incredibly funny and interesting. AAAAND her father!! Mafala has more lines than all of the background mormon boys combined, and when is the last time you saw Mafala fanart? And don’t get me started on the amount of shipping content there is for Arnold and Kevin in the current fandom compared to Arnold and Naba, which is a fandom culture problem in general but COMEONTHEYREPERFECTFOREACHOTHERANDITSACANONSHIPPUTDOWNTHEYAOI. There is so much content for our white boys and so much untapped potential for literally HALF of the characters in the show.

Some people are forgetting how smart the twins are. I mean, they speak multiple languages, successfully infiltrated a major dragon hunting operation, threw Viggo/Krogan/Johan off their game multiple times, and can start spewing random but accurate knowledge at the drop of a hat. They know they’re smart, but they don’t show it because they know if Hiccup sees them as smart and not just ridiculous, he’ll trust them with more responsibilities, which they don’t want.
They’re playing everyone in this damn series and I’m so proud of them.
