Inclusive Self Ship Tags Masterpost

With the discussion of being more inclusive in our community, I’ve decided to create a masterpost of all the tags and tag suggestions I’ve seen floating around. Let’s make these official.

These tags are specifically for marginalized self shippers who want to find content made for them; this includes imagines, fanfiction, reader fics, resources, and visual media. Be mindful of your privileges, if any, when posting in these tags. Don’t forget to uplift and support your peers, too!

Feel free to reply or reblog with corrections, suggestions, and other feedback. I will update this list accordingly. Thank you!

In light of the discussion around BIPOC self shippers and LGBT+ self shippers not feeling included or wanting to be more inclusive, let’s use two new tags for us to share our content!

For BIPOC self shippers: #bipoc selfship

For LGBT+ self shippers: #lgbt+ selfship

You are also encouraged to use more specific tags for yourself if you want.

Let’s make ourselves more visible! And remember to support BIPOC and LGBT+ selfshippers in our community!

Adding to this! It looks like the + in LGBT+ will not show up in the tag, however feel free to use #lgbt selfship. 

Be aware that this tag includes ALL LGBT+ people, including aromantic and asexual/aspec individuals, and exclusionists are not welcome. The plus sign is supposed to be there, but tumblr’s system prevents that, unfortunately.

Regarding the tags, since I’ve seen some people asking:

#bipoc selfship: All BIPOC are included, even those who are white passing. All you have to do is be aware of what privilege you do have and uplift your peers who are not. Support black, brown, and indigenous self shippers and call out antiblack racism and exclusion. If you’re writing imagines and posting them in this tag, be inclusive to all groups unless otherwise specified (example: you’re writing specifically for latinx people).

#lgbt selfship: Cis people under the LGBT+ umbrella are welcome. However, if you are cis, be aware of your privilege and support your trans peers. If you’re writing imagines and posting them in this tag, strive to make them gender neutral unless it’s a personal request (example: you’re writing specifically for mlm or wlw).

You can absolutely use both tags if you are BIPOC and LGBT+.
