[She doesn't find the others, but her eyes land on a... bird yokai? She's never seen or met them before. She stands there just staring at them.]

[She stares at April for a moment, feathers puffing up defensively.]

[She hesitates. Donnie's girlfriend? Partner? Chosen?]

So I'm assuming you haven't heard from Donnie? He's been away for a while... I'm worried.

A month or two, I think? I'm not sure... Big Mama messed with my head a couple weeks ago.

[Erin huffs as she thinks for a moment about Leo’s question. Her calf was resting on a pillow and luckily her head was somewhat healed, it just had a scar.]

Honestly? I have no idea, I haven’t had the time to think about it. What about you, Toby?

[Toby hums from where she's perched on the back of a chair, preening her feathers.]

I'm going to be completely honest with you, I don't have any clue what you're talking about.

[Leo gasps, hand flies to his chest dramatically.]

Hey Cass!! Leo’s telling Toby about Halloween because she’s never heard of it before. And also technically what we’re gonna be for Halloween. What’re you up to?

[she takes a moment to register her surprise before answering Erins question]

oh uh- i was training and pulled my shoulder muscle.

Oh crap- Let's get some ice for that.

[He leaves to go to the kitchen, then comes back with an ice pack. He walks over to Cass, handing it to them.]

Here ya go! Keep it on your shoulder for about 20 minutes. It should help soothe any pain and keep down inflammation.

[It has been 13 hours since Erin passed out. She wakes up on a cot confused with her heart still beating slow but faster than before. She looks around, her eyes still adjusting to the lighting and surroundings. She tries to touch her head but immediately pulls away, wincing at the pain. But it wasn’t just her head that hurt like a bitch, almost everything was hurting. After a few moments, Erin decides to call out to anyone that was in the room with her.]

…Hello.?

[Leo was sitting in a chair, scrolling on his phone when he heard Erin's voice. He shifts his gaze towards her, standing up.]

Hey, Erin. Finally up now, huh?

[He chuckles, coming forward a bit.]

Leo? What happened? Is Toby ok??

[She tries to sit up but clenches her gut and hisses in pain so she doesn’t bother.]

[He jogs over to her, gently pushing her shoulder so she lies down.]

Hey, hey, cool your jets. Toby's okay, Cassandra's okay, and you're okay.

[He gently pats her shoulder, then takes a seat next to her.]

After you broke the bracelet, Toby passed out, then you passed out, so I got you both on IV's then patched up Cass. We've been in here since then, just to make sure you guys were gonna be okay. It's been abouttt -[He checks his phone] - 13 hours.

13 HOURS??? Leo, what happened to me???

[Erin starts to pull at her fingernails with a worried expression.]

[He bites the inside of his cheek.]

I .. don't know. But while you were out, I looked over you for injuries, and you have-

[He gets up and quickly jogs over to the counter to grab a clipboard and starts reciting the list as she walks back to her seat.]

A head wound (which has been cleaned and bandaged), bruises on your stomach and cheek, a sprained calf, and last time I checked, your BPM was 34, which-

[He cuts himself off before he says something to worry her even more.]

We need to elevate it. Not right now, because that might do more harm than good. Right now, you just need to rest.

[Erin thinks about last night, remembering that weird thing she did with her axe. She immediately checks her pulse on her neck. She looks over to Leo immediately with a shocked expression.]

I think I might know why my heart beat is weird… last night I was holding off guards for Cass but the last time I slammed my axe against the floor nothing happened. But suddenly the guards looked like they were being- electrocuted? But I don’t know how because my axe didn’t produce any electricity waves but then after that happened I started to feel like drained somehow..

[She had her hand on her chin, thinking about the why’s and how’s as she looked down with a puzzled face.]

[Toby pokes her head in, her previously pleased smile turning nervous. She's been hard at work, running between various spells and potions for several hours. Her hands are shaking, her missing eye hurts, and she's tired, but she's made several breakthroughs in her work.]

Hey...

[Erin looks over to Toby with a gasp.]

TOBY!!!

[She pulls off her IV and runs over to Toby, giving her a tight hug. She felt so relieved that Toby was mostly ok and there no more Big Mama controlling her. She almost felt like crying but not from the physical pain she felt from getting up and running but from the relief that she didn’t fail Toby.]

[Toby freezes, blinking repeatedly before tentatively returning the hug.]

Hey, Erin...

[After a moment, she tightens the hug.]

'm sorry... you okay?

You don’t gotta apologize for anything, Toby… I’m sorry about everything that happened yesterday and before that..

[She sniffles, trying not to cry as she spoke.]

I’m doing ok, I’m just..

[Erin was at the verge of collapsing, she couldn’t stand anymore. All the pain was catching up to her. She was in fact not “okay”.]

[When Erin pulls out the IV, Leo starts internally panicking. Now she's bleeding out and running the risk of getting the area infected and- she's hugging Toby. As much as it pains Leo, they let the 2 have their moment. Until her knees start to give out little by little.]

Nope, nuh uh, not happening.

[Leo quickly grabs a wheelchair from the corner of the medbay and rushes over to Erin and Toby. He puts it behind Erin so she can sit down in it, then goes to get disinfectant, as well as gauze and a towel to stop the bleeding.]

Hey Toby! And uh, you two don't mind me, but one thing, Erin. For the love of all that's good, never do that again-

[Erin tilts her head, confused. She looks at both her sides so she can see what she did.]

What I do?

[Before she even gets her question out, Leo's already trying to stop the bleeding. While doing so, he answers her.]

So yknow the IV line that you ripped out? Yeah, that's extremely dangerous. IV's go directly into the vein, so ripping it out would be like tearing down a dam. Not mad, just- please don't do that, we don't want you dying on us, okay?

[He glances up at her, raising an eyebrow playfully there's also a hint of concern hidden in his expression.]

[The more Leo explained what she did, the more concerned she got. She looks to the side embarrassed and regretful of her actions. Erin chuckles nervously before speaking.]

Yep got it. Lesson learned. My bad haha-

You're good, Riri.

[He would give her a thumbs up, but his hand is occupied-]

[A few minutes later, he removes the towel and presses a small gauze square on the wound, then wraps it to make sure it stays.]

There! Good as new!

[Toby stands off to one side, tugging on her feathers. Suddenly she blurts-]

Why did you-

[She shuts her mouth, clicking, and shrinks in on herself.]

Never mind.

[Erin looks up at Toby and gives her a sad look as if she was reading her mind.]

Toby… we love you a lot, you know that right? We went after you because we were worried.. and you were literally under Big Mama’s control with that bracelet. We would risk… everything for family. And you’re apart of it.

[Toby's brow furrows.]

But I'm-

[She growls, sounding frustrated.]

Forget it. I figured out how to replicate your potions.

[She looks down, sinking in on herself. She felt bad for not being able to reassure Toby and possibly making her mad..]

[When Toby mentions her potions, she looks back at her in surprise. How did she remember that?]

[Erin starts to pull at her fingernails with a worried expression.]

[He bites the inside of his cheek.]

I .. don't know. But while you were out, I looked over you for injuries, and you have-

[He gets up and quickly jogs over to the counter to grab a clipboard and starts reciting the list as she walks back to her seat.]

A head wound (which has been cleaned and bandaged), bruises on your stomach and cheek, a sprained calf, and last time I checked, your BPM was 34, which-

[He cuts himself off before he says something to worry her even more.]

We need to elevate it. Not right now, because that might do more harm than good. Right now, you just need to rest.

[Erin thinks about last night, remembering that weird thing she did with her axe. She immediately checks her pulse on her neck. She looks over to Leo immediately with a shocked expression.]

I think I might know why my heart beat is weird… last night I was holding off guards for Cass but the last time I slammed my axe against the floor nothing happened. But suddenly the guards looked like they were being- electrocuted? But I don’t know how because my axe didn’t produce any electricity waves but then after that happened I started to feel like drained somehow..

[She had her hand on her chin, thinking about the why’s and how’s as she looked down with a puzzled face.]

[Toby pokes her head in, her previously pleased smile turning nervous. She's been hard at work, running between various spells and potions for several hours. Her hands are shaking, her missing eye hurts, and she's tired, but she's made several breakthroughs in her work.]

Hey...

[Erin looks over to Toby with a gasp.]

TOBY!!!

[She pulls off her IV and runs over to Toby, giving her a tight hug. She felt so relieved that Toby was mostly ok and there no more Big Mama controlling her. She almost felt like crying but not from the physical pain she felt from getting up and running but from the relief that she didn’t fail Toby.]

[Toby freezes, blinking repeatedly before tentatively returning the hug.]

Hey, Erin...

[After a moment, she tightens the hug.]

'm sorry... you okay?

You don’t gotta apologize for anything, Toby… I’m sorry about everything that happened yesterday and before that..

[She sniffles, trying not to cry as she spoke.]

I’m doing ok, I’m just..

[Erin was at the verge of collapsing, she couldn’t stand anymore. All the pain was catching up to her. She was in fact not “okay”.]

[When Erin pulls out the IV, Leo starts internally panicking. Now she's bleeding out and running the risk of getting the area infected and- she's hugging Toby. As much as it pains Leo, they let the 2 have their moment. Until her knees start to give out little by little.]

Nope, nuh uh, not happening.

[Leo quickly grabs a wheelchair from the corner of the medbay and rushes over to Erin and Toby. He puts it behind Erin so she can sit down in it, then goes to get disinfectant, as well as gauze and a towel to stop the bleeding.]

Hey Toby! And uh, you two don't mind me, but one thing, Erin. For the love of all that's good, never do that again-

[Erin tilts her head, confused. She looks at both her sides so she can see what she did.]

[Before she even gets her question out, Leo's already trying to stop the bleeding. While doing so, he answers her.]

So yknow the IV line that you ripped out? Yeah, that's extremely dangerous. IV's go directly into the vein, so ripping it out would be like tearing down a dam. Not mad, just- please don't do that, we don't want you dying on us, okay?

[He glances up at her, raising an eyebrow playfully there's also a hint of concern hidden in his expression.]

[The more Leo explained what she did, the more concerned she got. She looks to the side embarrassed and regretful of her actions. Erin chuckles nervously before speaking.]

[Toby passes the dojo, then backtracks at the sound of someone training. She stares at Leo, frowning as she remembers the last time she was in the dojo.]

[After a moment, she goes up to him.]

Leo. We need to talk.

[He suddenly stops, turning his head to face her.]

Oh, h-hey Toby!-

[They can hardly breathe, and he's trying to get it under control as he approaches her.]

What's up?

[She looks at him, gaze stern, but her voice is soft when she speaks.]

[She walks over to one of the mats and gets into a ready stance. The wound on her face has scarred, a little light floating where her eye used to be.]

[He stumbles forward, shaking his head in an attempt to brush off her words. They turn back towards her and make another advance, their body shaking slightly.]

[Quick as a flash, Toby darts forward and trips Leo. As he falls, she grabs his shell and covers his left eye with her hand. Her voice is suddenly cold as ice.]

Would you like to know how I lost my eye, Leonardo?

[He stays there for a second, panting. Then he stands up, turning towards her.]

.. How?

Doing exactly what you're doing now.

[She sighs, tugging her feathers gently.]

I know it wasn't my fault. I was being controlled by the bracelet. Big Mama forced me to train nonstop for a week before I went to fight. By the time I got to the arena, I was exhausted. I made a mistake.

[Nodding towards the mat, she frowns.]

[They visibly swallow, looking between her eye and the scar. They shift their gaze just beyond her for a moment, then away towards the ground. He looks back up at her.]
