It was raining outside. Not lightly, though -- the rain seemed to be hammering away at the roof like the gods were personally offended. It was arguably one of the worst storms of the season, and yet one person seemed to be completely unbothered.

Seeing it was occupied had made her pause, feeling like she should approach the occupant and apologise, but she instead found herself just hovering in the doorway, hoping that her tiny size, being about as large as a person's thumb, would mean she'd go unnoticed.

Toby didn't seem to notice at all as he continued to read, humming to himself as he continued to flip through the pages of his book. It would take a lot more to fully draw his attention toward Ella, due to the fact that he was so hyperfocused on reading that everything else seemed to just drift off into the background.

The fairy opted to perch herself down on a small shelf near the door, mostly to rest her soaked through, tired wings. The light around her body a faint blue thanks to her body's low temperature, with her blowing into her hands and rubbing them on her tiny arms to try and warm herself up a bit.

She startled as he addressed her directly, the light around her gaining a tiny pink tint to it from her embarrassment. But she did opt to float over, sitting her tiny form on his shoulder.

"Sorry. I... don't normally interact with the denizens of the woods." She said, "But even taking shelter in a tree bark wouldn't be enough with how strong the rain is." She glanced to her wings, still waterlogged.

"I'm an angel. Or... Something close to that," Toby answered. "Funny thing is, I don't really serve a higher power. I'm just trying to live a normal life nowadays amongst mortals, I guess." "An angel?!" She gasped, before straightening up and giving a formal, polite curtsy to him. Though once he continued speaking, she seemed a bit embarrassed, "Oh..." She said, worried that she'd made him uncomfortable with how she reacted.

Toby noticed almost immediately and chuckled. "No need to be embarrassed. I'm not uncomfy or offended or anything. I just... Find it refreshing to see someone who isn't afraid of me in any regard."

"Thank you." She said, used to seeing sharp teeth and claws thanks to her observing the beasts of the woods often, but not used to being this close to a set.

"Huh? Oh no no I'm OK." She assured him, "Well... A bowl or something to wring off my wings in so I don't get water everywhere." She added, glancing over her shoulder to her wings.

Toby nodded. "I'll go get one right away. You're free to stay with me while I get what you need." Another soft, friendly smile crossed his face as he slowly stood up and started heading toward the kitchen to get a small bowl for Ella to use to get all the water out of her wings.

It was raining outside. Not lightly, though -- the rain seemed to be hammering away at the roof like the gods were personally offended. It was arguably one of the worst storms of the season, and yet one person seemed to be completely unbothered.

Tobias Foster was lounging on the couch, a cup of warm tea in one hand and a book in the other. He didn't seem to be caring all too much about the rain. Instead, he hummed to himself as he flipped to the next page in his book, unaware that he was being watched from the living room doorway.

While normally unbothered by the weather, the harsh rain had forced Ella to seek shelter, the tiny fairy having been struggling to keep herself flying with how heavily the rain was coming down.

She felt a bit guilty about breaking in to the cozy cabin, but it had been the closest place she'd found, so she'd taken advantage of her tiny size to slip through a gap. Seeing it was occupied had made her pause, feeling like she should approach the occupant and apologise, but she instead found herself just hovering in the doorway, hoping that her tiny size, being about as large as a person's thumb, would mean she'd go unnoticed.

Toby didn't seem to notice at all as he continued to read, humming to himself as he continued to flip through the pages of his book. It would take a lot more to fully draw his attention toward Ella, due to the fact that he was so hyperfocused on reading that everything else seemed to just drift off into the background.

The fairy opted to perch herself down on a small shelf near the door, mostly to rest her soaked through, tired wings. The light around her body a faint blue thanks to her body's low temperature, with her blowing into her hands and rubbing them on her tiny arms to try and warm herself up a bit.

At least she was out of the rain.

After a while, Toby noticed, but he didn't seem annoyed or upset that the fairy had entered his home. In fact, he did the one thing he felt was necessary to ensure Ella's comfort.

"...You can come over here if you want. You don't have to freeze your ass off alone."

He was offering close proximity like it wasn't a big deal. Was it a smart idea? That was a question with an unclear answer. But hopefully it wouldn't have been a bad idea.

"Sorry. I... don't normally interact with the denizens of the woods." She said, "But even taking shelter in a tree bark wouldn't be enough with how strong the rain is." She glanced to her wings, still waterlogged.
