Love this scene so much ahhhh!!

Arthur put on his own armour (yes he could still dress himself here…), helped Merlin with his armour, admitted to Merlin that he was nervous too, and said “ It’s been an honour.”, an echo of what Merlin said to him on the castle!! Gives me so many feelings...

(Unrelated but did Bradley stood on a box or something? He looked much taller than Merlin lol)

Always loved it when they grasped arms like fellow knights. Arthur put away all his façade and truly treated Merlin like an equal. He could finally do it because they were far away from the castle. (and because Merlin technically quit, and Arthur just made an epic speech saying everyone was equal)

I especially love that unlike the “ I don’t get nervous.”Arthur in Valiant, he didn’t hesitate to admit his nervousness here. With a gentle smile too. A sign of how far their relationship went. I also like how not-a-big-deal the fear for battle was to Arthur. It was never a reason to look down on anyone and it certainly didn’t diminish Merlin’s bravery.

Arthur’s face was so open and SOFT in the entire scene. So sad that Merlin didn’t get to reveal his secret. It was probably the most accepting Arthur would ever be… Just look at him!

What I find funny in magic reveal fics is that Arthur almost always assumes Merlin is capable of strong magic.

No matter how magic was revealed, Arthur instantly brings up previous powerful magic occurrences.

Is it because he knows nothing about magic, therefore doesn't understands how powerful sorcerer must be to perform what he thinks Merlin's done? Does he thinks every magic user can do it?

OR he instantly thinks «If my Merlin is sorcerer he must be a great one.»

It doesn't even matter if he thinks Merlin betrayed him or not.

Merlin's been fooling me all this time and actually wants me dead? He's smart powerful sorcerer and I'm an idiot! Merlin is still a good person despite the magic? Of course he's great at it! Remember *insert any insanely powerful canon thing*? It was him, wasn't it?

S4/5 merlin being so done with everyone and everything is so funny. Like he may aswell have covered arthurs ears and said “yes I have magic get over it. Oh hi, youre new here? Cool- leave, because i cant be bothered to figure out how you screw me over but you probably will. Please nobody even think about arthur today because my back hurts and I just want ONE MINUTE OF PEACE. If you’re here to kill arthur or me please come back next week i just polished his armour and i wont hesitate to snap your neck if it gets dirty again because it took me all morning.”
