Happy 9th ‘birthday’ to Captain America: The Winter Soldier today
Steve being helpless while losing Bucky
//-coughs- buckys come find steve for your bday wish.. and/or present -coughs-
You know what, I'm so grateful for every single Steve Rogers lover on this site. The people who haven't let their opinion of him be influenced by bad writing, who have continued to love and support him even in the face of all the mischaracterisations and slander (worse than ever now thanks to EG), and who actively keep the true Steve Rogers alive and well in their fannish creations. Pretty much everybody loves Bucky (as they should!! Bucky is incredible and I love him just as much as I love Steve) but Steve doesn't get nearly enough love these days and it breaks my heart, and would no doubt break Bucky's heart too.
The real Steve Rogers is such a complex, wonderful, interesting, loveable and good character, who deserved so much better than he got. And I'm just really glad that despite the majority of people not being able to recognise that, there are still plenty of people out here who do know him, and who love him no matter what drivel Marvel tries to sell us about him. It's just very heartening to know he's still got all of us, so thank you all for that 💙

No, but REALLY!
The way Steve says it, it’s like Bucky looking at him and NOT EVEN KNOWING HIM it’s the most hurtful and unimaginable thing to happen.
To a guy who woke up in another century, who went through every upside-down experience one can imagine… Bucky looking at him AND NOT KNOWING HIM is what actually breaks reality, the thing he could not fathom.
AND THEN we see Bucky, whose world (the real one, the one behind the decades off brainwashing) is suddenly there before him! He’s seeing a glimpse of the it beyond the mental-wiping BECAUSE HE KNEW HIM. He’s sure, twice sure when he doesn’t even know who he is, suddenly things make A LITTLE SENSE BECAUSE HE KNEW HIM.
So yeah, I’m not ok, because the only thing that is a constant in their lives, what gives meaning to who they are and to the world they live in, is that THEY KNOW EACH OTHER. Their love for each other, their presence in each other lives, their memories of each other.
And you tell me steve/bucky wasn’t IN THE TEXT?
I’m going to keep crying while hiding in a corner.
Character study sheet - i will get there, i will find a way of getting the hang of their features and then i could not be stopped

#BSE: Bearded Steve Energy.
Steve: Here’s your coffee, Bucky.
Bucky: Thanks, can I have a little spoon please?
Steve: Yeah, sure!
Steve: *hugs Bucky from behind*
Bucky: *close to tears* I- okay
stucky cuz they have my heart, life, soul
the howling commandos honestly deserved more respect in the mcu. they were a diverse group of batshit crazy men who could drink a bar dry that followed captain america and sergeant barnes around europe fighting hydra. then, during VE day when the entire world was celebrating, they drank in a dimly lit bar mourning/toasting steve n bucky. they are integral to the captain america story, and were loyal to a fault. they had all passed by the time steve and bucky reunited, but where’s a scene toasting the howlies?
peacereflected:
𝑺𝑻𝑬𝑽𝑬 𝑺𝑻𝑬𝑷𝑺 𝑪𝑳𝑶𝑺𝑬𝑹 𝑫𝑬𝑺𝑷𝑰𝑻𝑬 bucky’s invitation for an out and suddenly it’s like no one else exists but the two of them. steve’s ocean eyes draw him in and without realizing, bucky takes a small step closer as well, gaze on blond’s. eyes flicker down to smooth lips as bucky feels steve reach out and touch his side, drawing him closer before kissing him.
it feels like an explosion of sensation at the press of lips, but also something deeper ; something inside bucky shifts, leaves him feeling warm. it’s a pleasant feeling, one that the brunet leans into as he slowly begins to kiss steve back. it feels like what he’s always imagined, and more. it’s better than bucky could have ever thought. flesh hand lifts from side to cup steve’s cheek and bucky tilts head to deepen the kiss, not wanting to let go just yet.
This is not the first or the hundredth time that Steve had thought about and wanted to kiss Bucky, who had always been much more than just a best friend to him. When he was small and weak, he never thought he would stand a chance with someone as handsome and charming as James Buchanan Barnes and he had fought with everything he had to get a chance for him to notice him.
Decades have passed now. History has changed. They have both changed. So much. But Steve still felt the same rush of excitement and sentiment whenever Bucky is in the room, when he looked his way.
He hasn’t counted on this to be anything more than a quick ‘let’s follow this silly tradition for fun’ kind of thing but when Bucky let go of his inhibitions and kissed him back, Steve was emboldened to do the same. His hand on Bucky’s side loosened to instead wrap his arms around him, holding him close to his chest and heart, but not so tight that they’d trap him there had he wanted out.
The kiss was magnetic. Steve could hear sparks and see sound, and part of him still couldn’t believe that he’s actually kissing Bucky. The taste of Bucky’s lips and tongue on his own, the hand cupping his cheek, the touch of their bodies, and even more so than those was the way that Bucky kissed him back said more than he knows they would ever need to express in words. And with over eighty years of things unsaid. He deepened the kiss in return and would be happy to continue this for as long as Bucky wanted. This is the happiest he’s been in a long time.
