I THINK the worst thing that happened to TADC is that it took so long for all of it to come out. like IHNMAIMS, TADC was supposed to be a pretty short story. there was never going to be a huge finale where ALL IS REVEALED, and they weren't going to sit down and technobabble at us about how the headsets worked or the intricacies of abstraction.

the huge gaps between releases had people basically making a brand new rabid fandom every time an episode dropped. people would tear apart every scene, every frame, every line of dialogue, and watch a hundred different reactors and theorycrafters do the same, and i feel like everyone forgot how small the scope of the show was supposed to be.

it was always going to be about a clown girl learning to accept that even in a stagnant life, meaning can be found. there were great side characters along the way, really impressive animation quality, great voice acting, but this was always a novella and not an epic.
