Absolutely this! It’s like how they still encourage you to try to have a baby when you have endometriosis, even if said endometriosis has made you infertile.

But then the fertility is all they care about!

There was a recent study that came out where doctors were like: “Guess what? We figured out how to save the fertility of someone with endo!” And then the endo community was reasonably angered over this, because apparently fertility matters more than someone’s pain and quality of life. They didn’t get why we were/are angry…

protagonists can and will be sexist, racist, insensitive, cruel, stupid, etc, especially towards the beginning of a story. these are called character flaws and they are a surprise tool that will lead to narrative fulfillment later
