Caleb and Essek was already canon before episode 141 and in this finale they become an endgame relationship. Caleb has been canonically attracted to Essek for a while now (confirmed by talks machina and numerous in-game actions, but if you demand a kiss to show that attraction then I guess you don’t see it). Essek also showed his attraction through actions, words and gestures but never felt the need to outright declare or define their relationship (again, if you demand a love confession from him I guess you choose to ignore those). 

In the epilogue they went on a study trip by themselves, were “together for a while” and go on to be lifelong friends because they have different priorities and Essek is going to outlive Caleb by 600+ years, sounds very reasonable to me.

For people who think they are not canon… What is your definition of canon? That they kiss in game? That they have grand love confessions? That they stay together forever? That they get the “fade to black” in game? 

They clearly love each other and have a profound bond. They helped/saved each other, learned from/with each other and found happiness. If you refuse to see that as canon, feel free to do so but their countless acts of intimacy and love towards each other throughout the campaign and the epilogue are more than enough proof for me.
