where do I even start, he is just so. there's a lot to unpack! For starters, Victor loved his family, especially the twins, more than anything else in his entire life. He would have been very content continuing to live in their small family home in Fereldan, watching the sunrises, flirting with the miller's daughter, swashing the blacksmiths son, hearing his sisters tinkling laugh and watching his brother turn beat red. Even after the tragedy of their father's death, the fifth blight, his sisters death, he continued to love them, but love was simply not enough.
To say his relationships got strained would be a complete understatement. Leandra starts to see his late father in him more and more, he has his eyes, his nose his jaw, his temper and the same misfortune and everytime she looks at he can't help but see the hurt in them. Carver feels more and more like a lesser when compared to his brother, he's either protected from everything and anything by Victor or held to a standard he cannot reach by their mother. Its a knife that inevitably wedges itself deeper and deeper between the two sibling until it cuts them completely free when Hawke decides to leave Carver behind before going to the Expedition.
Victor doesn't get along with Gamlen. The only reason why he even sometimes appears at his house is because of his mother. If he doesn't get kicked out by Gamlen he's out of there even before he Gamlen can say a word, so he ends up spending a lot of his night in the Hanged Man, either passed out on a table or crashing in Varrics apartment. The few friends him makes in Kirkwall make sure he's not alone during these nights, even if it's just a coat around his shoulders.
