umm um hi its the anon from a while ago askinv ab ur modern au volo i was wondering if i could perhaps message u ab him...but i am so shy (and i wanna know if youd prefer messaging here or twt ?) our hcs are similar and i have the very basics of a fic i wanna write ab him (and n) but none of my friends are pokemon fans to the extent of giving a gaf ab the characters like that so i have NO ONE TO YAP WITH 😢😢 ok anyeays u can ignore this if u want waves really fast and runs away

The flowers used in the background of this rustshipping illustration.

In the Japanese version, Corbeau’s name comes from karasuba, a phenomenon where plants turn black, while Philippe’s name was inspired by the white flower gypsophila.

So I’m glad I was able to draw flowers that have a strong contrast of black and white, yet show areas where the petals shift partially into black.

- I hc that corbeau was very busy dealing with what would soon be the rust syndicate (it being the “venture” adder mentions lysandre helped fund in game) so he wasn’t really there to witness the year or two that followed lysandre’s fall into anger and supposed death. he would call to give updates on his progress of building up the rust syndicate but lysandre had been more distant than before. corbeau thought he was just busy; he never expected for things to turn out the way they did. he has a lot of regrets, thinking about what he could have done to dissuade him from making the decisions he thought were necessary…

- Also recently read an incredible Lysandre and Corbeau fic and have a lot of thoughts rn about the complicated feelings he might have for his benefactor: I mean he’s grappling with the idea that his role model in life - the one who taught him to take as long as he give back to the world, who taught him to play his part in making lumiose a better place - did something so horrible as to want to destroy the world.

Lysandre did a terrible thing and now he doesn’t remember it at all. Corbeau can’t decide what he’s suppose to feel about the guy, doesn’t know what he wants from him now that he knows he’s alive.

- Was is approval? (he giving back what what he’s taken, paying back all that was was given to him plus interest. does he see it? what he taught him to do?)

- An apology? (doesn’t he deserve one? even if it’s from someone who doesn’t remeber what they’re apologizing for).

- Maybe he wants a reason. A reason why he - the person who saw some good in some stray kid like him - decided that it all wasn’t worth it. Was so angry that he thought it was better to turn his back on the world. Why, when choosing who to save, he wasn’t part of it.

- He doesn’t know if he should confront him. He doesn’t know if he can

- I hc that lysander found him as an orphan, supporting him until he grew old enough to land on his feet, and then gave him the funds to kick start his next “venture”

- when he was younger he was prone to outbursts of emotion; he has since learned to control these outbursts some what

HII hi im too shy to comment on ur twt post but i like dropped my jaw bc ur modern volo hcs are JUSG LIKE MINE !!! SO FREAKING COOL !!!!! i would love 2 hear more ab ur hcs if u have anything !!! u even have the stripe of grey in his hair like kts crazy u pulled him out of my brain

Yay I’m so glad you like my Volo!!! I have many more headcanons to share!!

- Despite being immortal he still ages, he just does it really slowly.

- He’s physically on his early to mid 30s at most, his hair is greying due to high levels of stress.

- Spiritomb is his companion because it’s the only member of his original team that’s still alive.

- He has a shiny Togepi, who’s a descendant of his original Togekiss. He usually has her out of her pokeball in hopes of sparking a conversation with people he’s interested in.

- Volo tries to lean hard into the “Pokemon are only tools” mentality as a way to cope with their eventual deaths, but deep down he loves his team.

- He’s looking for the opportunity to strike again, since he knows that Arceus will probably not let him slide this time. He’s very paranoid about it.

- For now he’s just a traveler looking for information and people that could be useful, and still acts as a merchant. He has managed to get his hands into some rare items, but only sells them to people he’s interested in.

- He goes to Sinnoh from time to time to see how it has changed over the years, he has very mixed feelings about it. However, he has been avoiding it as much as he can ever since Cynthia started gaining fame.

- He has descendants, but has only managed to get track of a few of them, Cynthia included.

- He has never stepped into Mount Coronet since the events of Legends Arceus, nor he has tried to pursue any of the other Sinnoh legendaries.

- He has mixed feelings about Giratina.

- Has a huge interest in seeing how his actions in the past have affected the present.

- Currently staying in Lumiose City due to him being curious about what’s going on. He has learned to predict when and where will a Legendary Pokemon appear, and hopes to see at least one of the Kalos legendaries.

- He prefers to keep a low profile, so he only participates in the Z-A Royale if someone challenges him first. That’s why he has a low rank despite being a pretty strong trainer.

- He has met AZ at some point in the past, but neither of them knew that the other is immortal.

I may write more in the future, but this is all (or at least most) I have for now, sorry if it’s a bit messy. Thanks for your interest in my AU! ^_^
