Phm from Adrian's perspective is just what if you were Penelope and Odysseus came home but he also brought a jellyfish and keeps begging you to build a fish tank for the jellyfish and make jellyfish food for the jellyfish and youre an ancient Greek whos never seen a jellyfish and you cant even comprehend how your going to do it but youre going to because if you dont Odysseus may kill himself. And also the jellyfish can do like. Witchcraft.
Requiem free cam finds are actually going to be the death of me because what do you mean after surviving countless apocalypses and nearly succumbing to the virus, Leon stood there looking around sadly, watching the walls come tumbling down and realized he was going to die in Raccoon City after all, buried under the rumble where it'd take days to find his remains, unable to say goodbye to his daughter (who was infected with the same virus and he was trying to save) because he had no service, so he resigns himself to death. And then he chooses to comfort Grace in his last moments because despite it all, he'd failed once again, and now Grace was going to die with him.
Between the way he shakes his head when Grace says "there's no way out," and the dejected look on his face, you can tell he truly thought that was the end. And that makes Leon's comment about Chris at the end all the more interesting because imagine how stressed Chris would've been. Leon had finally reached out for help and Chris was almost too late.
I just truly feel like RE9 was such a Chreon game. Like.... see my previous posts for other rambles, but this game really seemed to intertwine Leon and Chris...
Like,,, things I remember off the top of my head:
(SPOILERS)
1. The characters in this game all seemed very connected to Chris' story (Zeno was a Wesker clone, Gideon was a scientist working on Spencer's research, Grace was Spencer's adopted daughter) and it seems to be tying Chris' story in a nice little bow, properly closing off the story from RE1.
2. Leon's half of the story heavily revolved around the BSAA (he was lured in by their supplies, spent his time running around collecting the detonator's pieces that were theirs and fighting their zombified soldiers) which to me, almost feels like a story belonging to Chris? Taking down the North American branch which defected to the government? Especially since Chris was a co-founder.
3. The S.T.A.R.S office remains remarkably intact, as are the traces of Chris all around. The team photo in Wesker's office, Chris' "Made in Heaven" jacket, his guitar, his trophy...
4. Of course we have the obvious, Chris coming to Leon's rescue. First thing he asks over the radio is if they are safe. And while we don't see Chris directly on screen, it is implied that he's on scene, clearing stuff up while Leon checks in on Grace.
Like imo Chris very much haunts the narrative of Leon's half of the story... all the time, things were popping up here and there, making me think of Chris.
And then after Leon admits he has no idea where Chris is he says "I'm sure I'll run into him at some point". The focus is firmly on Chris before Leon goes to check in on Grace... and then after checking in on Grace, Leon turns around, pulls off his gloves and puts on a wedding ring.... And because the focus was firmly on Chris just moments before, it makes me think that Chris is still on Leon's mind, so when he pulls off his gloves, he puts his ring on because he was thinking of Chris and his ring probably didn't fit on his finger anymore because of the infection marring his hands.
But like... yous are picking up what I'm putting down right????? Like Chris isn't even on screen. We don't hear him speak. But he's so THERE. It makes him seem such an intrinsic part of Leon (which,,, the CGI movies and manga kinda already did as well, but I digress) and that just created so much I guess domestic energy for me???? Like at the end of day, they come home to each other. That they've been together so long and shared so much of each other that it's not exactly clear where one ends and the other begins....
