what happens when teddy’s grandma dies?

the funeral: grandma andy dies when teddy is around 20 years old aged 68. the funeral happens relatively quickly - as one would expect. it’s wasn’t a particularly grand occasion given that andy broke ties with materialism when she married ted, she saw no point in flares and frills when there were so many other more meaningful ways to express your appreciation for someone. she loved nature however, and teddy made sure to decorate the room the service was to take place in with the most beautiful flowers. calla lilies, roses, marigolds, tulips, orchids - they covered and embellished everything. teddy sat by himself in the front row, as per his request, and composed his own speech which he performed as quickly as he could at the start of the service.

aftermath: everything ground to a halt. andy was his last direct connection to his heritage, so naturally he found losing her incredibly difficult to come to terms with. he put his radio internship on hold, which they were happy to do, and proceeded in shutting out almost everyone he cared for. however, perhaps the biggest comfort he discovered was his godfather harry, who understood more than anyone what it was to lose a parental figure(s) and teddy decided relatively quickly that the best place for him to be if he wished to process his grief in a healthy way that didn’t involve self-isolation, was at the potters. in terms of his appearance his hair went mousy brown, and he became quiet, withdrawn. he found himself lingering over scrapbooks, but he was also drawn closer to his parents graves which he began visiting multiple times a week for no reason other than to feel less alone. he was the last and only of the lupin/tonks line, and that took a while to accept about himself.
