Hmm? No. No I’m fine babe. It’s just that Bucky confronted Zemo and held his life in his hands and both of them understood whatever happened next depended on the type of person Bucky wanted to be moving forward and that would have been a really important and meaningful moment between Tony, and Bucky, with tony having to choose to forgives or not, particularly with the emphasis on Bucky’s desire to find closure to this trauma by making amends for the trauma he inflicted and it would have been an important moment that tony not only had the opportunity to choose to forgive but also receiving the closure that HE so richly deserved but we don’t get that, and Bucky really honestly getting the forgiveness he NEEDS and deserves, is all. I’m fine.

God. like i know we talk about it i know we talk about the cave with the box of scraps i know we talk about it. but the fact that this is where iron man originated, that this is the birth of a superhero, that iron man really Was cobbled together by two people being held captive in a cave, out of shit their captors let them have so that they could make weapons, that it was just built to help them escape,

the fact that the first time an iron man suit was ever assembled it was being done as quickly as possible held together by the bare minimum. just do every other hex bolt, do it quickly, get it done, because they were about to be killed. that this is where iron man came from.

For Williamson, the appeal of Iron Man has very little to do with the armor. “Tony often makes bad choices,” Williamson said. “I think that’s what makes him dangerous.” It’s not just that Stark is brilliant, but rather it’s what that brilliance enables. “Knowledge is power,” Williamson said, “Because he can create things that are dangerous.” And those dangers aren’t abstract; they’re deeply personal. “Ultimately, it’s not about the things he’s made,” Williamson said. “It’s him. He is the creator of these dangerous things.” In Williamson’s view, Stark is held in check by this deep fear, one of becoming the most terrifying version of himself. And if you remove that fear, the consequences could be truly catastrophic. “I think Tony holds himself back because he’s afraid,” Williamson said. “So if Tony ever lost that fear of being his old self, he would be incredibly dangerous. I worry that Tony could potentially be a ticking bomb.” That’s where Advanced Idea Mechanics enters the picture. AIM isn’t interested in building better armor; they’re thinking about bigger, more disturbing end goals. “They’re like, ‘No, no, no—we don’t want armor,'” Williamson said. “They’re like, ‘We want another Tony.’” And that implication is utterly chilling. “Tony’s weapon isn’t being used,” Williamson said. “He’s actively not using those resources. He’s not using that part of his brain anymore.” So, then, what happens if someone else does? “I don’t mean this in anything bad about him,” Williamson said, “but imagine if somebody was like Tony and then executed those ideas.”

This idea that Tony is not using his full potential because of the fear that he'll build truly catastrophic things and be a danger to the world, I dig it. Makes me think of what he did while SIM, what he did in Hickmanvengers, what the Mandarin forced him to build in Fraction's run. When Tony is pushed to the brink, he can build truly devastating weaponry. And, yes, I absolutely think that Tony is afraid of what he can create. He knows just how bad things could get.
