fun   facts   about   jack    :  

he    has    11    crowns   .   that’s    why    his    teeth    are   so    perfect . 

he   played    hockey    in    hs  . 

  he     watched    miracle    on    ice     when    he    was    8 .    it   made   him    love    hockey  .    he     was    #12    ,     &     a    fantastic      right     wing     player   ;      the     physicality    of    it    was     appealing    to    him .    also     explains    why   he   has    so   many    crowns   .  

suffered   a   lot   of   injuries    too  .     whip   lash    ,    bruises   /    lacerations   ,   &     shin    splints     were    common  .    he    was   always     roughed    up    one    way    or    another  .

he    was    a    volunteer    firefighter    for    a    year    before    joining    the    military   .

there’s    a    dimple     on     the    right    side    of    his    face  .   just   the    right    side  .

he    cut    his    own     bangs     when     he    was    6  .     it    was   a    disaster   ,    &    the     awfulness     of     it    was     underscored    by    the    fact    he    had   school    pictures    the    next   day  .

his     favorite     color     was    blue   .    until    he    became    commander   . 

after     that     it     was     red  .  

he’s     decent     at     horseback      riding   .   

he     has     a     huge     scar     on     his     hip     (pre    SEP)    from    a    farming     accident    — - - -    he     fell     off     a    ladder    &    cut     himself     open     on     a      piece     of     farming     equipment    when    he     was     16     or     so.  

the     patches    of     skin    across     the     bridge     of     his     nose     &     under    his    eyes     are    prone    to    light    freckles     in    the    summer   .  

kids     used    to      make      fun     of     him    for    his    nose  . 

he    enjoys     baseball     second    to     hockey   .    football   ,   too   ,   but     not    soccer  .

begrudgingly   ,    he’s    a    morning    person   .   it’s    routine    to    wake   up    early   ;    he     always    did    on    the    farm  .  as   76   ,   though  ,    he’s    definitely    a     night    owl .  

his     family   ,     being     pretty     pious   ,    had     a     jesus     statue    overlooking     the    living    room   .    as    a    kid    he    ran    through    the    threshold    because    he    was    convinced    it    was    staring    right    at    him  .

he’s     pretty     superstitious   .   spits     over     his     shoulder    for    good    luck   ,    doesn’t     sit    at    the    corner   of   a    table   ,   etc . 

he     was    5′8″     before     the    SEP   .   

like     any     kid   ,    he    constantly    hopped    between    dream    occupations   .    for    the    longest    time   ,    he    wanted    to   be    an    astronaut  .     it     was     fed     by     his     high    grades     in     physics     &    engineering  .     however   ,    he     didn’t     enjoy     STEM     classes    at    all   ,     so    the    dream    quickly    fell    apart     after    that . 

loves     80s     music  .    

99     luftballoons    was    his    sister’s    favorite    song  .

his     father     owned    hundreds    of    records   ,    &    always    had    some    playing  .    the    records     were     handed    down    a    lot   ,    &    so    he     kind    of    came    to    love  /  hate     elvis   ,   ABBA ,    def   leppard   ,    the    eagles    ,   etc   .

i mentioned this to naz but a staple of 76’s persona is . the fact his jacket was created from his commander duster — all of the fabric was borrowed from it , n he keeps the tatters bunched up in the corner somewhere everywhere he goes . kind of like catwo//man in tim burton’s batman — i inspired it heavily off of that (sans her descent into … a more unhinged state) but the whole vibe ? very 76 , very consistent w the idea of shedding his Image / his intense dedication to self destruction . its almost like a Traveling symbol of his own metamorphosis : what he had to endure , overcome , n how he got to where he is now

addendum : his gun too .. i believe it was Originally gifted by the UN to jack when he accepted the position of strike commander . again , its all consistent w the underlying theme of … reclamation of his own monstrosity (his abilities; he’s never liked them — he’s felt repulsed by them bc he can hurt people so easily) and . reclaiming the fact he was intentionallg melded into an instrument of war — essentially using their own weapons against them

i love the concept design of soldier — the one w the dog tags , the low cut shirt , the beat up strike commander rifle , n the kind of “bandaged” look on his rifle — just bc ? its a more personal look on 76 ? which i think is v Fitting , considering that . 76 itself (the concept) is an act of Reclamation , taking back what the public took away , n the lack of the mask too (this is Blasphemy but i really hate the design of soldiers mask.) i also rly love the image of jack walking w it slung over his shoulder , bc it rly emphasizes his . apathy , his change in personality ? idk i just prefer it way more . also i get to see his face

if i had an Iota of creativity i would redesign his mask but like … going off of this .. i Love Love the idea that he carries his old rifle around ? even tho long ago i hc’d he just . heavily modified / repainted it (before he lost his vision) but i love the color disparity ? the symbolism of that ? the silver , which is considered the Antithesis of gold , while also representing Yesteryear , and his topple from grace .. those colors , the strictness , the shapeliness of it (geometrically—his rifle is like . all straight lines , giving the illusion of power , precision , military prowess.) the disparity between symbols — the fading stars , then the ruggedness of his 76 symbol … i cld go on and on abt his character design but i wish blizzard had went w it instead of the Masked Vigilante , bc while i understand the significance of masking him since .. duh , jack morrison , for all intents and purposes , is Dead , it aligns gracefully w the concept of Reclamation and homecoming , since he wants his targets to know who he is , who they killed , that jack morrison is back with a stone cold vengeance , etc . that .. nothing is still something , theres power in losing everything — by leaving him w nothing , they gave him everything

staving off my feelings of inadequacy by thinking about an entire revamp of my sep lore — i hate the idea of injections , it never sat right with me that the entire human body could be altered with a mere needle alone , n i want to run with the enhancements the ow universe can offer .. there is a component of genetic enhancement in the soldiers , of course , but i’m thinking along the lines of an entirely reconstructive surgery using nanotechnology … yes , that and injections too — the body cant reject the alterations after all , especially the gradual introduction of the nanites , & so two injections would have to be administered : one with the nano machines and one to suppress the immune response . which raises questions of sickness , recruits dying from easily fought off viruses .. the immunosuppressant was necessary but the recruit was taken off of it as soon as possible , n the nanites covered what the immune system could not

this also raises questions abt jacks status when ow is falling , bc im positive scans / lab tests / etc would be leaked revealing he is .. almost entirely remade , n it also adds to jack’s .. struggle w his inner monstrosity , feeling inhuman , even alienated , especially in a world so vitriolic to omnics . they definitely want him dead when they find out he’s hardly human . that loneliness , the sting of it , alleviated only by gabriel because he’s the only one who could Ever hope to understand , the lack of foundation when he’s gone , n 76’s reclamation of that . the acceptance that he is Monstruous , inherently . a subject for dissection ; he reclaims his post mortem .. the monstrosity becomes his identity ; he succumbs to it

last one but like .. i think about how jack forever struggled with the fact they turned him into a killing machine , an instrument of war . he was remade for that , n they effectively stripped him of his humanity .. his way of moving through the world is forever altered , revolutionarily so .. he cant hug people , he has to distance himself from his anger , he can’t be human — he can’t feel passion , in fear of losing his encraty — he can’t be angry , can’t grieve .. he might hurt someone , break something, just from what he thinks is a firm touch . 76 is just . the war between his human n inhuman side manifested , achingly human n raw , at last having the things he was denied for his entire life ; but at the same time it’s his acceptance of who he is , that he will be a war machine , he will be a slaughterer , a thief ; he is a result , showing the world what they have created
