Okay but this is exactly what I love.
The above image is a historical artifact. Colima dog. It dates back to circa 100 BCE-300 CE. (x)
And, around two thousand years later it was originally shaped with care, painted with love, and adored… someone draws it. Draws it using a new technological device that allows modern people to shape things with care, paint with love, and even move them -on a screen, glowing.
And the said person decides to share it with the world. The whole world adores it.
I love the connection between past and today. We were humans back then, and we are still the same.
Cute dog :)
i love the type of character who acts like they’re unlovable and then does something devastatingly gentle
A big part of being a quadruped is being able to just lie down anytime. Waiting? Loaf time. Talking to someone shorter than you? Loaf time. Falling asleep in the sun? Loaf time. Bored? Loaf it up till something interesting happens. Leg hurt? Loaf time.
You wish you were me
I can do it on rocks also

IMAGINE Simon wakes up in zero G on the Hail Mary and is panicking and Grace, having no idea how to comfort someone, remembers some shark trivia that when they are rotated upside down their heartbeat slows and they calm down
So of course, Grace just
Flips Simon

An appreciated post to this man right here:
Carl, AKA Steve (if you read the book)
We've already made Ryland popular, the bloodymary ship, we even made Stratt the talk of Tumblr for a moment. Now it's Carl's turn...
Fanartists, you know what to do...
Something I don’t think I’ll ever be over, is how Yao and Ilyukhina died for nothing, and yet at the same time, *didn’t.*
Because they both volunteered to board the Project Hail Mary to search for a solution to astrophage, they were both willing to die in order to give the rest of humanity a fighting chance of making it.
And they both died before ever even seeing Tau Ceti.
And it feels so unfair, because they went all that way for nothing, they died without even getting to try and save the people they were going for.
So they died for nothing.
Except they DIDN’T.
Because their deaths saved Grace, and in turn, saved Rocky and Erid. Without the surplus coma slurry, Grace wouldn’t have been able to go back and take Rocky home, and Erid would have had a much harder time with astrophage.
This isn’t particularly coherent, but I can’t stop thinking about these two people who were willing to die for their world, died before getting the chance to fight for their species survival, and yet their deaths meant the sole survivor of their crew could save both their home, and another.
There’s just something so devastating about that to me.
You could expand that further to DuBois in the book canon as well.
DuBois requested his death to be asphyxiation by nitrogen. Thanks to that nitrogen reserve being put on the ship specifically for this purpose, Grace and Rocky were able to breed the nitrogen-resistant Taumoeba.
DuBois died before he was even able to set foot on the ship that would carry him to the presumed solution that saves humanity - and still, he unawarely contributed to saving both Earth and Erid.
they got a lotta time to kill on that ship... i think they were goofin a lot :)
[pls rb!]

Thinking about my old headcanon of giving either the Captain or Engie vitiligo. It activates most commonly under prolonged and/or immense stress... Imagine them having a literal map of the hell that every loop puts them through. A tapestry of pain, an irreparable vulnerability, a record of something no one else remembers - but something that definitely happened nonetheless. Imagine them being able to tell at a glance who they're dealing with once they get separated: Is this my Captain? Is this my Engineer? Where's the spot that used to be there two loops ago? Why are there so many new ones? How long has it been?
