The Gray Catbird

is still around, and I think yesterday, I saw two of them. This is very exciting and makes it more possible that they might stay for the summer. He was not very enthusiastic about the constant rain yesterday, but today we have wonderful sunshine! (No flooding in my area, and I hope everybody out there is ok, given the circumstances.)

My First Spell: A Salt Bowl and a Crow

I wasn’t planning on practicing any magic until I did more research and felt completely comfortable with my craft. Because of my previous post (about my crow sightings) I decided with careful consideration that a spell was needed because of many factors.

Type of Spell: cleanse and protection spell.

Ingredients/tools: (white) candle, white string 10”, (white) bowl, (Sea) salt, garlic salt, cinnamon, mint, and rosemary. •add or deduct items as you wish•

• light candle

• pour salt into bowl

• add herbs/spices/ingredients one at a time

• stir/mix items slowly with fingers while reciting spell:

“Salt of Earth, Guard this home. while I’m here, or when I roam. Keep it safe, and all within. By my will, with harm to none. By Earth power, with spell is done.”

• take string in your hands

• think of the people you wish to protect

• create a knot for each person while saying their name/title out loud

• light each end of the string on fire using the candle and quickly blow the flame out

• dip the ends of the string into the candle wax to protect them X3

• place string in bowl (or a safe place)

• thank the four elements (or a diety/spirit guide...)

• put out candle
