hi friends--long time no see. i took an unintentional almost two month hiatus but i plan on coming back this week! id love to a.) continue my threads and/or b.) start some new ones!!
Ok hopefully I’ll be back soon. I’m stuck in this ice storm in the US and am on day 5 without power.
hi friends--long time no see. i took an unintentional almost two month hiatus but i plan on coming back this week! id love to a.) continue my threads and/or b.) start some new ones!!
This was his sister best friend. That kept ringing in his mind. Most of the time he didn't care who he slept with, who he would hook up with or invite back home with him. With Inez though it felt more dangerous. They couldn't be loud, they had to keep their distance until this moment when she was in his room. Sitting on his bed with those damn short riding up. Yup, he had to remove those now. Hovering over her body, Alec had lost all sense of holding back, pulling her legs to catch her off balance, pressing a strong kiss against her lips as his hand was brought between her legs, slipping them past her shorts to tease her body. His kiss was strong, filled with emotion and desire as he crawled on top of her body.
Her best friend would forgive her for this, right? Maybe she's be thrilled. She was always commenting on Inez's terrible taste in men. Alec was stepping closer to her now, and Inez's heart raced in her chest. She leaned up towards him, eyes moving to his lips. A gasp left her when he legs were pulled out from her. Her back hit the mattress, but a smile quickly found her lips when he leaned in. Lips pressed against his, hands running into his hair and legs wrapping around her waist. Her entire body was alight, but when his hand slipped between her shorts she nearly came apart. A moan left her, too loud, her hand quickly came over her mouth. "Alec!" she whispered, hips bucking off the bed and into his hand.
Pat let out a slow sigh, a large hand running down his face as he tried to compose himself. This was the absolute last thing he needed, especially considering how uneasy the blonde beside him seemed. He wasn't sure if it was more due to the now dead elevator, or his mere presence, or a combination of the two. It wasn't like he had done anything to her, so he wasn't sure why she was so bothered by him. Maybe the strong silent time just unnerved her.
Her words showed her unease, and Pat leaned against the wall farthest from her, trying to give her whatever space he could in the small confines of the elevator. When he realized she was trying to get a flashlight from her phone, he pulled his own from his pocket and illuminated the space for them. "Better?" he offered with a small shrug. He wasn't going to bother attempting to call anyone, there was never any service in this metal box.
A light humorless chuckle left him as his broad shoulders shrugged. "Let's see." he mused, illuminating the elevator panel and finding the emergency communication button, pushing it. At first there was silence, then a moment of static and then a voice came through the other end. "Hi folks, we're aware of the situation, and we're working on it as quickly as we can." Well, at least there was that. Pat cleared his throat before he spoke. "Any sort of ETA?" he asked. "Unfortunately, no. But we're doing our best to get you out of there ASAP." Another sigh left Patrick. "Right, thanks." He heard a click and turned blue hues back to the woman, his lips forming a line for a moment before he spoke. "I'm Pat by the way." he offered.
The emergency light clicked on just enough to illuminate the elevator. It did nothing to ease her anxiety. If anything, the gentle shadows casting on the man’s phase only emphasized the features that most reminded her of her client. The walls seemed to inch closer to her, and Piper squeezed her eyes shut. She wasn’t claustrophobic, but she was trapped. Each time she glanced at him, that familiar fear rushed through her body. It wasn’t him. He couldn’t get to her anymore.
A sudden heat seemed to rise from her chest and spread quickly across her body. It had to be the rising temperature in a stalled elevator, right? Either way, her blazer suddenly felt like it was lined with wool. She tugged it open before draping it over her arm and letting cool air hit the back of her neck.
His flashlight clicked on and she breathed a sign of relief. “Yeah–better. Thanks.” At the emergency operator’s admission, she shook her head. “That’s just great.” No ETA. Of course. Her chest tightened at the idea of being stuck here for longer. “She felt her hands shaking. She carefully eased herself to the floor and stuck her hands between her thighs to hide it. When he turned back to her, Piper forced herself to look him in the eye. It was just long enough for her to pick out at least one feature that didn’t belong to her client. Eyes flew to his right brow to see if he had the same scar.
He didn’t. Clammy hands rubbed over her thighs. Shoulders hesitantly pulled away from her ears. “I’m, uh,” her voice cracked. “I’m Piper.” A cautious smile flashed at him. “I’m not really a fan of small spaces,” she lied, realising how foolish she probably seemed. Still, her guard was high. Surely he’d believe her little white lie. “I should’ve packed cards or a puzzle to pass the time.”
I think the only solution is for me to go. His hand fell from hers, and Elena felt her stomach tighten. He was hurting. Her glimpse into his last year from his journals, but she couldn't even fathom what he had gone through in his absence. Still, selfishly, she found anger rising in her chest at his new confession.
"No," her voice cracked as she rose to her feet. Her jaw clenched and she could feel the flush creeping onto her cheeks. Dark eyes narrowed at him as her head tilted slightly to the side. Hands trembled at her sides. "You have to be joking." Her voice was calm, but every muscle in her body tensed. "You promised me. You promised you would've leave again, and here you are." She scoffed. "I don't care that you pulled me into anything! You helped me get away from someone that I never thought I'd escape. You're just going to leave me to pick up the pieces of my own heart again?"
She took in a slow breath in a desperate attempt to calm herself. Elena would follow David to the ends of the Earth. His side was where she belonged. "I'd do anything you asked of me, you know? But you didn't ask! You're just going to go without even trying to talk about it!" Eyes were rimmed with red as tears threatened to spill over. "So, no. That isn't the only solution."
“What other choice is there?” Once upon a time, David would’ve not given up so easily. He would’ve fought to the end, found a solution by any means necessary. But over the last year, he found exhaustion creeping further and further into his bones. David took a deep breath. He was behaving too rashly, without consoling the woman he loved. That was his first mistake.
“I’m sorry.” He breathed. “I just don’t think I can get us out of this one.” David said honestly. “The only way we could do that is if we framed someone, or dragged them on long enough that the case gets declared cold.” Who knows how long that would take?Â
David ran a hand over his face, a sigh of frustration washing over him. Suddenly, something came to mind. “I think I might have an idea.” David moved quickly, hands rummaging through piles and piles of clothes. “I got in contact with a vampire, she saved me when I was bleeding out.” He said. “When I first turned.” He clarified. “She might be able to help us with compelling the cops into forgetting.”Â
Fists balled at her sides, nails digging into her palms. A tear slid down her cheek before she could stop it. She listened in silence, her breath hitching at the hopelessness in his voice. Elena never would fully understand the year of suffering he’d endured. Her brief glimpse into his journals had been enough to know it was worse than she'd ever know, and it was not her place to ever ask.
She stepped closer to him. Her fingers ghosted over the back of his hand. “I know,” her voice cracked. “Don’t be sorry. I’m not mad, and I didn't mean to raise my voice. I’m just scared.”
When David suddenly began digging through piles of clothes, Elena flinched at the movement before following him, staying close to him. “What about in the meantime?” she asked softly. “You said it might only last a few days. They’ll come back for us. We can't stay here."
She folded her arms over her chest, leaning against the doorframe as she watched him. A hand pressed to her heart at the thought of him bleeding out alone, cold, and scared. Thankfully, someone nursed him back. "If she can help, let's go. You just tell me when and how and what to pack."
Alice met Gina halfway, opening her arms to let the little girl jump into them. Gina was lighter than Alice initially thought, she rested the child comfortably on her hip. Alice nodded almost as soon as Henry asked her, eyes already darting to the direction of the sound. Ed and Anita held each other on the stairwell, Austin went into the living room to find a vase had been broken. “It doesn’t want you here.” Anita mumbled. Alice let her eyes wander. She caught glimpses of shadows here and there, but they darted away as soon as she spotted them.Â
“Gina, darling go to your parents.” Alice put her down and the brown haired girl ran back to her mother. “We’ll have to set up in your living room. We’ll start taking statements and recording in a second.” Ed moved with his wife and children to the living room, while Alice and the rest remained in the hallway. “It’s here, but it’s not showing itself to me.” The woman commented. Austin cleared his throat. “Can’t you like, make them appear to you? Like provoke them or something?” Austin was young, and still didn’t understand ghosts that well.Â
“Provoking them is the last thing we should be doing.” Alice said calmly. “I say we start with the interviews. The ghosts are gonna hear us anyway, it might stir them on.”
Henry caught himself smiling at the sight of Gina jumping into Alice's arms as if she had done it every day. Kids had been mentioned a time or two, but Henry worried about the harm their work might bring. The crash from the other room diverted his attention. He stood slowly. It was unusual for this much activity so early. "I think you're right." Henry muttered. He caught the way Alice's eyes danced around. They were far from alone.
A sound like a laugh or a frustrated grunt left him at Austin's words. "In a house like this? You'll be opening a can of worms that you'll never close." He waited for the young family to move into the living room before joining his wife and their team. "What do you see, love?" Brows furrowed in concern before beginning to set an EVP on the mantle.
The remains of the vase littered the hardwood. Austin had disappeared to find a broom. Jared assisted turning the living room into their investigation space. Henry moved to be Alice. "It's only going to get more active. Alice, I have a strange feeling about this place. Maybe we should have come here."
A sudden cut through of static came over the EVP. Childlike laughter occasionally cut through the rough sound. Henry felt his body run cold as the hair on the back of his neck stand up. The static stopped. The hum of the AC stopped, and the house fell completely quiet. A child's voice came over the recorder. "I'm here, Mama."
"Her son--" Henry shifted his gaze to Alice. "Or maybe that's who she thought this was."
Seeing her sitting there on his bed, so exposed, so... innocent, it was like it was breaking something inside of him. The bad side of his mind always fighting and winning as the door was closed. His crystal blue eyes turned to look at her, seeing flashes of what he could do, just shoving her back onto his bed, silencing her, moving down onto his knees with his face between her legs. They were on dangerous territory right now. They were in his domain now, his territory, his bedroom. âťť You really think I would let you walk out now back to the couch? âťž He questioned as he slowly walked over toward her, leaning so that his hands laid flat on his bed on either side of her so that he could be face to face with her, only inches apart. âťť You're wearing that siting on my bed. I'd be an idiot to let you walk away. âťž
Her pajama shorts rode up further when she crossed her legs. Inez made no attempt to adjust them. Unwavering eyes still followed while she wondered exactly how he was going to taste. She wanted to get drunk on his kiss and whispering his name in the dark of his room. "I was hoping you wouldn't." Alec's hands now rested on either side of her. Her breath froze in her chest. Blue hues bore into her own dark ones, and Inez took her lip between her teeth. Her heart pounded in her chest. Somehow, he was even more beautiful up close. Inez needed to leave--to go back to where she was supposed to be--but he held her here. "Are you planning to do something about it?"
#yapper wife + quiet husband
The grin that she had so easily brought to his lips so long ago quickly found his features at the sound of his nickname coming from her lips. Just her saying his name quickened the pace of his heart and he swallowed thickly, a hand running through his hair. But Oliver was nothing if not observant and he noticed the way her eyes moved to his hand...his left hand.
A small chuckle left him at her question and he nodded, moving to stand beside her, turning to order a beer before responding. "Yeah, we did." he agreed. Though at her next words his grin fell and he was grateful his beer arrived quickly, and he didn't waste a moment grabbing it and taking a long sip. She wasn't wrong. He had broken his promises to her. Promises that they'd never split, that they'd be able to navigate the long distance of him enlisting. But he hadn't wanted to tie her down to the life he was choosing, and so he'd broken those promises, and her heart, and his own in the process.
God, she was going to give him whiplash. His brows rose slightly at her next words, and he looked down at her, the hint of a smile ghosting over his lips tentatively. "Yeah?" he mused before nodding absentmindedly. "I was hoping to see you too. And scared too." he admitted. Oliver was a God Damn NAVY SEAL for fuck's sake, and not much scared the man - but facing Arden, seeing her again, this very moment. He'd been afraid of that.
He opened his mouth and then closed it again. Small talk didn't seem fitting, yet he did want to know what she'd been up to, if she'd accomplished the dreams they used to lay in the back of his truck and talk about. Ollie cleared his throat before finally finding his voice again. "I'm glad you're here."
It was the same smile she fell head over heels for all those years. Except, now, a few wrinkles at the corners of his mouth and eyes were present. Arden hated the way her heart rate picked up. Her eyes lingered on his face for a bit longer than she intended before clearing her throat and grabbing her glass of wine.
Her breath caught in her throat at the presence of him now beside her. Nearly two decades away from him but he still took her breath away. It wasn’t fair for her to snap at him so quickly. It had been decades, but her jaw still tightened at his silence. She mumbled a thank you to the bartender before stepping away. Arden would have uprooted her life for him if that was what he asked her to do. But she stayed here, in their shitty hometown hoping one day he might come back to her.
Arden motioned towards a high top table before setting her drink down. One finger absentmindedly traced the rim. Her heart was aching at the sight of him, but she also couldn’t ignore the butterflies in her stomach. “You think I came to this looking for Ned Byers or Mrs. Richmond?” she teased. Arden flashed a grin, hoping to lighten the mood she dimmed. “I didn’t think NAVY SEALS got scared.” She sipped at her wine, peering at him over the glass.
A hand rested on the table between him. Fingertips carefully reached out to brush over his. “I’m uh–I actually became a surgeon. So all those boring study sessions in the bed of your truck didn’t go to waste.” Arden desperately wanted to ask about his life, but where was she supposed to start? His life should’ve been one she shared with him. “I don't really know where to start. What have I missed?"

Sebastian wasn't sure what she wanted from him, she was a hard book to read, person to understand as his shirt came off over his head, as he stood before her shirtless, feeling her body against his. The cookies were put on pause clearly as he swallowed the lump in his throat looking down to her frame, seeing her shirt being removed which made him feel feverish. He didn't stop her hands, not for a second as she removed his belt, unbuttoning his jeans, it used it to pick her up in his arms, plumping her ass down on his kitchen island so he could stand between her legs, pulling her on the edge of the counter so he could start to pull her pants off her body. He couldn't stop now, not when she didn't want him to.
The bottle of red had given Elena the confidence she needed. Countless nights of lingered goodbyes since she moved in in a desperate hope he'd come to her room. She gasped when he lifted her up onto the island. Legs opened for him and lifted up. Her jeans fell to the floor with the rest of their clothes. Elena had him at arms length now. A hand traced down his neck and delicately over his torso. "God, Sebastian." Legs locked behind him before pulling him back into her. A hand cupped his cheek before leaning in once more to kiss him. Hips pressed up and against him feverishly.
Inez had an innocent crush on her friend's brother. That was what she told herself, at least. The flirting had always been innocent, but she had taken things too far. The messaging was meant to be a joke, but she found herself waiting impatiently for each reply. Now, she was coming over more than she used to just to be in the same room as him. She'd text him from across the couch to watch him squirm.
She drank too much wine, and his sister asked her to stay the night. Inez waited until her snores filled the bedroom before carefully slipping out. She knocked just once--unsure if he'd even open the door. Cheeks flushed as he opened the door, and his tall frame towered over her. "I wanted to see you." Curious eyes scanned over him as she took her bottom lip between her teeth. She slipped past him, letting fingers run over his stomach and to his side. "Thought this might be more comfortable than the couch."
Alec leaned against the doorframe, trying to hide the small, crooked smile that pulled at his mouth as she by based him. ❝ You know, ❞ he said, voice still a little rough with surprise, ❝ most people just borrow a blanket if the couch isn’t comfy. ❞ His eyes flicked down to where her fingers had brushed his stomach, then back up to meet hers. The look she gave him made his breath catch, and for a second he forgot what protest he was trying to make. ❝ Inez… ❞ he murmured, shaking his head slightly, though there was a teasing glint in his eyes now. ❝ You really like making things complicated and difficult, don’t you? ❞ He stepped back, slow and deliberate, shutting his door subconsciously and moving into his bedroom more.
"I'm not most people, Alec," she whispered, a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips. His crooked smile made her stomach flutter. She should leave and go sleep back on the couch, but her body wouldn't allow her to move. She took in every inch of his frame that towered over her. Up until now, it had been flirty glances and teasing words exchanged. Inez couldn't risk her friend catching them. She might lose them both. The wine had given her the confidence she so desperately needed to come to his room. "For you, I do. I kind of like to watch you squirm." She sat on the edge of his bed as he closed the door. "If you want me to go back to the couch, just say the words."
Dark hues followed her as she moved into the room and leaned against the wall across from him. Her worry was part of the reason he didn't want her here. Didn't it have to be worse to see him taking the punches and doling them out than it did just having him come home black and blue with a wad of cash?
A huff of a sigh left the man as he shook his head slightly. It wasn't so much that he minded her watching him, no, he supposed that part was kinda nice. What he minded was all the other seedy people she had the opportunity to come into contact while here. He'd already tainted her enough, he didn't need someone else joining in - or worse, her getting hurt. "The big deal is this place is shite." he muttered. Dark hues rolled slightly, the hint of a smirk quirking his lips. "Oh, c'mon. Ain't like I eva ain't come home. Ya got nothin' ta worry bout." he shrugged. His own safety had never been much of a concern of the Brit's.
"I came here before I met you." Arms crossed over her chest. She'd been here once before the night she met Nick. Then, she came just for him. He pulled her in, and, now, she watched from outside the ring with clenched fists and a pounding heart. Mary Jane was more than aware of his hesitancy about her presence here. He'd rather her be home, but she refused to stay there. His stupid smirk had the butterflies fluttering in her stomach. A smile tugged at the corner of her own lips before taking a seat beside him on the bench.
A hand rested between them. "Am I distracting you?" she teased, hoping it would disguise how she truly felt. Gaze shifted to bruised knuckles that had held her so gently in the night. "I have plenty to worry about, but you don't seem to care too much about what happens to you." Her pinky brushed over the back of his hand from its resting place on the bench. "After seeing Rourke's face last week, all I worry about is that happening to you too."
Elena didn't move until the car pulled out of the driveway. Her knees gave out underneath her, and she sank into the couch behind her. All the air seemed to leave her lungs. Trembling hands pushed her bangs back from her forehead. "You just--" her voice cracked. "They turned into zombies."
"I thought they knew." Her voice cracked. Knees pulled up to her chest and her cheek rested on her knee. "You should've been more careful," she whispered. Dark hues full of fear and anxiety met his. "They'll be back, won't they? Unless that's a little more permanent."
A hand reached for his. She was signing up for something far greater than she imagined, but she'd walk barefoot over hot coals for him. David was her first home--her person--whatever he asked of her would be done. "What do we do now?"
“It’s gonna last for a couple of days. We can do some decent damage by that point.” David’s first thought was to frame one of Theo’s friends. Those cokeheads had enough on their rapsheets to be suspects, David could make one of them guilty for real. Yet, he hesitated.
The man had become unusually cruel since his transformation. Guess they were not lying when they said a piece of your humanity left you when you turned. David rubbed his temple. “Look, I’m sorry I dragged you into this.” David threw a glance out the window. There was a thought in his mind, something he could not shake.Â
“I think the only solution is for me to go.” Silence. The vampire rose to his feet, letting her hand drop from his. “I brought trouble the second I came back. I should’ve been more careful with him, but I wasn’t. And now I’ve pulled you into all this bullshit.” His tone betrayed no sense of panic, but you could tell the man was speaking from a deep pain.Â
“I can help you get away. But after that-” He swallowed the lump in his throat. “I need to go.”Â
“It feels weird.” She said, “It’s like I never stopped, but it all feels so new.” Spirits were never the same. They had different frequencies, different intentions, different fates. Some were kinder than others, demons lingered here and there but Alice had gotten good at protecting herself (and Henry) from them. “I’ve never met a child who had the same gift as me. I just hope her parents are dealing with it better than mine.” Alice threw a quick look out the window. As the trees passed, she tried to think of ways to help Gina. Whatever the depths of her ability were, her parents could not deal with it themselves.Â
They arrived, and Alice spotted Jared and Austin up front. Jared was their cameraman, and Austin was another ghost hunter they collaborated with. His equipment was crucial in their investigations. “Hey there, little lady.” Jared greeted before engulfing Alice into a bear hug. Jared was in Henry’s class back in college, though the years had worn him a bit. Specks of grey sprinkled his brown hair, crows feet already present at the ends of his eyes.Â
They all exchanged greetings. “Are you two all set up?” Alice asked. Austin gave a brief nod. “The mics are already picking something up though. Whatever's in this house, doesn’t want to be ignored.”Â
Henry turned onto the gravel road that eventually lead to the home. "After we help them, you could talk to them about Gina. Help them understand their daughter and how they can help her, but they don't seem to see it as something harmful." Henry could only imagine what was on his wife's mind as she watched the trees. She was traumatised by her own family for a gift she couldn't control, and he prayed Gina would never suffer through something so painful. "She has you now, and I couldn't imagine a better guide for Gina."
Laughter left him as Jared appeared from the home. His old roommate and his best friend had joined them on their investigations a few years ago. Austin, Jared's nephew, joined them a few months later. Austin was younger--barely 21--but their work would be nearly impossible without him. Henry patting him on the shoulder. He was never one for physical touch. Alice had been his only exception.
The static crackling of the radio stopped Henry before he could speak. He followed the noise to where the two men had set up. "You're back!" Gina said eagerly before ducking around Henry to search for Alice. A low growl was coming from the EVP while Anita and Ed stood by the stairwell anxiously.
"My house," whispered from the EVP.
Henry swallowed before taking a seat at the dining room table. "My name is Henry. Can you tell me what your name is?" A sound like a child's laughter cut through the air. Henry's heart pounded against his chest as he turned over his shoulder to look for Alice. "Did you hear that?" he asked her. Seconds later, the sound of shattering glass came from down the hall.
"My house," repeated once again.
