Cinder didn’t know how it happened. She didn’t even know when she began to lose her clutch on You.
You were always a mamas kid, constantly by her side, always doing whatever she asked with no complaints whatsoever. If anything, You continually tried to gain Cinder’s praise and approval. Sure, maybe it wasn’t that difficult to do when it came to You but You still craved it like a bee to honey and she was all the willing to give it to You.
Until, that one faithful day You had said no to her. For the first time in Your entire life, You had the audacity to say no to Cinder, Your own mother.
She didn’t ask You anything out of the ordinary. Just the normality of You companying her on her usual runs that You, for the most part, seemed to enjoy.
And yet You said no, like some ungrateful mutt.
She asked You to repeat Yourself. Maybe she just misheard You or something else. Either way, she was giving You a chance to fix Your mistake.
“No,” You repeated, narrowing Your eyes in some attempt to stand strong in the presence of Your mother. But she could see how Your shoulders tensed when she glared at You.
You always hated it when she even so much gave you the implication that she could be disappointed in You. It made it easier to control You that way.
Cinder’s fists clenched, fire dancing around the tips of her fingers. “No?” She barked, sneering at You.
