Thinking about Komali and the Rito and wondering about his grandma. Did she die when he tried to climb up to visit Lord Valoo? We don't know much other than it was traumatic going up there for Komali so I can't help but assume.. I wonder if his rampaging hurt her.

the lack of garrance fans talking about the actual parallels between them is upsetting to me because in MCD you have garroth who is very religious in a sense and then laurance who is a shadowknight and basically a demon from hell, and they have two entirely different upbringings in mystreet with garroth having a semi-healthy and rich family and being well-liked right off the bat very naturally and being a pretty big rule follower and laurance being an adopted child whose had it ROUGH with his past family and past school and past friends, getting involved w the wrong type of people, etc. these are just two things that were on my minddd but its almost like they balance the fuck out of eachother and no ones talking abt kt so i will

Aido Hanabusa from hit eugenics incest anime Vampire Knight was unironically the first positively treated queer character I ever encountered in media and I'm not even joking.
He's openly bisexual, he flirts with the human girls and his crush on Kaname is known to the entire night class.
It's fuels probably the best conflict with Yuuki that the vampires have. Aido wants to scare off Yuuki because of his crush. (This is also the same reason Ruka disapproves but she more so takes that out on Zero or Kaname himself) The rest of the vampires disapprove because she's human and will lead to Kaname's family no longer being 'purebloods'.
His crush is treated with the same validity as Ruka's, they both want Kaname's affection and they both choose to stay by Kaname's side even if he'll never reciprocate, and they're both doing so out of romantic feelings.
Hanabusa is the only character that gets the chance to question Kaname's authority throughout the entire anime, and I generally think it's the best character arc in the show, even if it does end with Hanabusa re-affirming his belief/feelings in Kaname, because if there wasn't constant idol worship of Kaname every time someone talks about him you might actually think about his actions and realise he's a terrible fucking person.
Point is Hanabusa is openly bisexual and it's not mocked or chided.
You can argue that him collecting stuff that Kaname has broken can come off as homophobic but this is in the same episode where Zero and Yuuki have confiscated literally hundreds of photos of the night class from the humans, so again it seems more like treating Hanabusa's romantic feelings on the same level as everyone elses.
For me personally this was much better queer/lgbt+ representation then most media from the 2010s.
Vampire Knight was legitmately the first show I watched where queer attraction wasn't treated as the butt of a joke every time it was mentioned, where it was okay for that attraction to exist along side the non-queer attraction, and where that attraction wasn't treated as bizarre and deviant, it just was.
Now if I had of been allowed to stay up to watch Ouran Highschool Host Club, I would've been introduced to significantly better queer representation but unfortunately Aido Hanabusa was all I had until I was about 17.

I was prompted to draw this because I feel so plagued by The Main Love Triangle ™ that I've been wanting to explore other dynamics in Vampire Knight. I really adore the relationship between Hanabusa and Zero. Their rivalry is so fun and their reluctant respect for each other and eventual friendship is so interesting. Aidou's facade of being a confident bratty flirt, while truly being the sensitive, intelligent inquisitor-- is such a wonderful foil to Zero's facade of being a grumpy, violent delinquent while truly being the kind, gentle knight-in-shining-armor. Plus the shenanigans of Hanabusa drawing Zero and then scribbling it out (we all know Hana has a crush on each of the main three at one point or another), Zero chasing after him with rope to then make him dinner, and the iconic scene of them in the hunter-mobile folding their arms and glaring at each other while secretly having a heart to heart. They mean so much to me ♥
whoever gives their LBD a backstory i applaud you mine simply does not have one. like yes she has a specific look and if my character doesn’t look like her i canNOT play skyrim and will make a new save. i have everything planned out down to the freckles on her face bro.

the vibes that a human alduin gives me isnt actually buff hairy man its surprisingly feminine. his appearance just screams divine. long silky black hair red eyeliner. his eyes r really red and his hair is jet black but he’s also got scales infront of his ears and horns on his head that he’d wear jewerly on.
like paarthy and odahviing to me they’re dragons but they dont stand out (design wise) like alduin does (no dragon does) and alduin is SO different from them almost like he could even be seen as an impossible beauty (and overall) standard for other dragons. like because he has so much pigment his hair is sooo vibrant (i like to imagine he’s got gold and red streaks in it depending on how much he’s fed) compared to literally any other dragon except a few who come close where most their hair would be really faded and dull. if that makes sense :3 idk probably a stupid thing no one cares about but i love my human dovah au
and another thing sorry since akavir is heavily based off of east asian cultures and dragons (SPECIFICALLY ALDUIN) seem to have a huge connection in the lore, i like to imagine some humanoid dragons with asian like features. so ones from akavir (which in my au are alduin and odahviing etc) (red and black dragons r the ones that were stated to have connections to akavir thats why) have more asian-ish features and skyrim dwelling dragons (paarthurnax) wouldn’t look as strongly asian. and then different areas so forth!

I would love to hear more of your thoughts on Kodlak and Vilkas and how Vilkas most certainly earned the Harbinger position but it went to the LDB. In my fic I’m writing I perceive it as Vilkas knowing he may be intelligent, but he’s not wise—he’s shortsighted and cruel in his desperation to obliterate the Silver Hand, he’s idealistic (delusional?) in his belief they can cure Kodlak even in death… I feel like he knows he’s not worthy of the role bc he can’t ever get out of his own way
In my brain Vilkas is a workaholic. Everyone, including Kodlak, know that the role would swallow him up. Vilkas would probably be a fairly effective Harbinger but there would be none of him left if he was given the role. Also probably a bit of ego? Like at some point Vilkas may have overheard one of the elder members mentioning offhandedly that Kodlak would likely select him as the successor and it became absolute truth to him. Aela, Skjor, Farkas, they're all soft compared to him.
You're so right about Vilkas being delusional. He's incredibly stubborn, thinking that if he can work a little harder things have to go his way. If he pours enough of his time and sanity into something it simply must happen the way he intends, and he tears himself apart trying to make everything happen the way he planned out.
Kodlak likely saw that while Vilkas may be the logical choice to fill the role, the Dragonborn is better suited for it. Their temperament and experience gives them a different perspective. Vilkas sees it as a failing that they haven't spent their life within the walls of Jorrvaskr, living and breathing for their guild, but Kodlak probably saw it as a pro - they are not blinded by allegiance to their shield siblings. They have an empathy for other factions that Vilkas' loyalty does not allow space for.
Vilkas would likely know the answer to any historical question about the Companions. He can recite battle strategies without thought. But the Dragonborn knows when to have mercy for their opponents. They know when to ask for information instead of annihilating every enemy, they aren't driven by revenge as he is. Vilkas does not still his sword, especially when it comes to the Silver Hand.
I like to write au's where Vilkas becomes the Harbinger and it just crushes him. He gets the thing he's spent his life working toward and it destroys him. Vilkas is often controlling by nature but having so many eyes look to him expecting him to hold every answer is more than he can bear. Haunted by a memory of Kodlak that he refuses to disappoint.
