Also adding in this off topic, but nice people don't have to be boring, it depends on how you write/create it. Nothing is boring if you create in a fun and intriguing way that captures someone's attention. So yeah your characters can be nice. Its just are you yourself writing it in away that can be interesting. I dont know, maybe I'm missing the point. But I dont like the concept nice people are boring. Nice people can genuinely be the most interesting people of all, and in fiction genuinely have the most messed up stuff happen to them. Again it's about how you create it. The point is dont limit yourself.
