The portrayal of Cardan as a himbo continue to amuse and baffle me. Jude likes him because he's smart. Jude wouldn't have any patience for the bbgurl version of Cardan I see sometimes. Beyond that, Cardan is good at reading people. Much better than Jude is. It's a survival mechanism, and it's something I think is underrated about him. Jude spent basically all of TWK thinking that Cardan hated her, and operating under that assumption for the most part. Meanwhile, Cardan was perceptive enough to know that Jude liked him, even when she was actively trying to squash those feelings. Cardan only plays the fool, but he's no one's dummy.

I must say, as excited as I am for more judecardan moments in the new book, I can’t wait to see what Jude and Nicasia’s relationship has developed into in the ten years that have passed (from QoN to TPT) . Considering her and Cardan are going to the undersea specifically to find Nicasia a husband, I wonder if we’ll get some crumbs of her and Nicasia being friends?
