“I guess I should just pretend it didn’t happen.” “Festus might not let you forget,” he informed him, to which Coryo winced. “You may have a point about that.” Silence ensued between them until Sejanus was clenching and unclenching his fingers on the bed, willing the sweat to disappear or his heart to stop racing or his body to stop wanting what it wanted the longer they talked about this. “I could help y-…” he trailed off, in disbelief at what he’d been about to suggest. “What?” “No. Nevermind. It’s stupid. And inappropriate.” He laughed a little. Nervously. “Tell me,” Coryo implored.

Despite the ending, the fic will focus on both love stories from beginning to end, so there will be something for both shippers, even if it does end with Coriolanus returning Sejanus' feelings.

Even when there’s money involved that could help us and no romantic entanglements whatsoever.” “Money?” Tam Amber blanched. “Like, a significant amount?” “Yes!” Lucy Gray shouted. “Quiet down, both of you,” Barb Azure growled. “I’ve already thought of that.” “What, have you found my lookalike you’ll send to the Creed’s house tonight?” Lucy Gray sassed. “Creed?” Tam Amber asked, confused. “As in Festus Creed?”

Meant to yesterday, but I've been struggling with a hurt finger that makes typing difficult, so that's a thing that's been going on. It's less painful today though (thank you, Neosporin) so maybe I can push through!

Honestly the most terrifying scene in Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes #tome that no one seems to talk about is Arachne's funeral. Not just the fact that it was turned into an opportunity for propaganda, but the procession that follows. The fact they have Brandy's mangled body hanging from a crane, the rest of the twenty three tributes being paraded around in their own filth with shackles so short that they have to kneel down in hot metal in the middle of the day while everyone watches, the fact it's so utterly humiliating and twisted that it makes even Coriolanus and the Cranes' stomachs turn. And the fact that the funeral procession was very likely what eventually inspired maybe Snow, maybe Gaul, maybe someone else to suggest the tribute parade for the Opening Ceremonies years later.
