OH BOY DO I EVER. i have written two fics about them meeting and the aftermath thereof:
O Night Divine - 2.2k words, explicit. Centers around their being paired up and their first night together, and includes some fun worldbuilding shenanigans.
two can keep a secret - 8.1k words, explicit. Centers around conflict between them in the early days of their partnership, and others' reactions to it. This also has some fun worldbuilding nonsense.
as for their first interactions, may i offer this scene:
Nux taps his fingers against the bonnet of the car and resists the urge to punch the lights out of the shithead perched atop it.
Perched. Perched! Like he’s got any right to be there, like Nux is his driver. Which. Which! Nux is not. No thanks. Nope. Not this asshole. Nux would rather be stolen as a war-prize or die unwitnessed in Organic’s than be paired to this rust bucket.
But the bastard’s been wheedling at him, for days he has, begging without actually saying anything for Nux to ride out with him, trial him. He hasn’t made offer, as such. And he also didn’t try for Nux when Nux was actually trialing people.
No one had managed to stay on, not even the senior lancers who’d tried. Nux still glows a little, thinking of it.
“What do you want, Slit?” he snaps.
Slit waves a hand, lazy. “Keep you company.”
“I don’t want company.”
“You need it.”
“And you know what I need because…”
“I just do.”
Nux grinds his teeth. “Get off my car.”
“Or what.”
“I’ll tell someone you’re gettin’ loose.”
Which Slit is, on account of Nux being an unclaimed Black Thumb, but that doesn’t matter.
Slit scoffs. “Making bids, ain’t I?”
“Fuck you.” Nux opens the bonnet and elects to pretend this makes Slit stop existing.
It doesn’t. At all.
Nux isn’t opposed to Slit as a concept. He’s a chrome lancer, a senior lancer, all hardcore scars and heavy muscle. All that’s shine. Great stuff.
But it doesn’t make up for the fact that Slit is a total asshole. He’s always flirting, always hinting, never making claims. And Nux refuses to be Slit’s bitch. Won’t go starry eyed and suck him off for nothing but a bracelet made of something that isn’t bone.
So they’re a little bit stuck. Nux twists the wrench and something hisses—too tight. Murmuring an apology, ‘cause he always feels bad when he hurts a machine, he loosens it.
“You’re a sweet little thing,” he hears over his shoulder, and he slams his elbow back on instinct. Slit makes a horrible squawking sound before coughing violently.
Nux turns to find him two steps back, clutching his neck. “What the fuck?” Nux snaps.
“Think I should be sayin’ that,” Slit wheezes.
“What’d you expect, sneakin’ up and talkin’ filth?”
“Not that.”
“Oh, you thought it’d work?”
Slit sighs, then coughs again. “Little bit. Works sometimes.”
