Lady Lavender, 9x12" oil on wood. Her owner is pretty sure Lady is an #andalusianchicken. Whatever shevis, she's very elegant! #chickens #chickenart #hobbyfarm
"April Moonlight" on left, 14 x 11" oil on canvas. That moon seems to show up over and over in the one-step-sideways world that lives in my head.
Six of my “Small Wonders” acrylic paintings on paper. These are originals, not reproductions. Prices from $45 to $99 (“Doris Takes a Break,” the cow lying down). Available here: https://traciethompson.com/collections/99854 – and more to come!
So, i created this mixed media Cecropia Moth painting over the weekend and I really love it, and it turns out the image fits really well on a mug. The mugs, small or large, are $14. Here’s the link for them; note that you can customize your background color where there image ends.
Nasturtium Seedling, 5x7″ mixed media, because I hadn’t done anything goofy and fun in ... in ... I can’t remember how long.
Early stages of a new #assemblageart piece called Circus Horse. (Yes, coffee is an art supply) #EquineArt #workinprogress #recycledmaterials
Finally framing this gorgeous pencil sketch by @bethanyberg. #artistsoftumblr
If you think you’ll never improve...
Above, 1992, one of my first college drawing classes. It’s mostly graphite pencil, with Prismacolor as sort of an afterthought. The paper is plain typing paper, which is mostly what I worked on then. I found it while doing a studio cleanup today. In 1992 I had never painted at all and didn’t know how to put a picture together. I was 20. Now I can do the kind of thing you see below, in oils, and I’m improving all the time. I could have gotten much better much faster if I had good, serious instruction -- or access to instructor tutorials on Youtube, which didn’t exist for my young self.

#inktober experiment: made an ink blot pattern last night, then challenged myself this morning to turn it into something more. 6x8" Cliff Landscape.
I saw people doing Inktober and went and got my unused bottle of ink out. Oct. 2nd, Chipmunk, Micron pen and touches of gesso, about 5 x 7″; Oct. 1, Robin, about 6 x 9″, ink and touches of gesso on cotton paper.
Nine species of fungus I found in Willow River State Park, Wisconsin, 9/2/2016. I’ve identified 1) Chicken of the Woods; 6) an indigo Russula species; 7) Fly agaric, 9) Boletus edulis. All photos are my own cell phone shots.
