Il était trop fatigué, trop abattu, et en manque cruel de réconfort.

Girl has to send out her master's thesis proposal in two days and she goes 'I should put on a Godard film. Or read some David Foster Wallace. You know, to prime my brain.' While she hasn't even complied her bloody bibliography, much less added the commentary.
Girl eschewed Godard and Wallace in favour of reading a tiny bit of French (on the long, perilous road to read all of the Vampire Diaries books in French translation in a last-ditch attempt towards language acquisition) and is now speed running cross-referencing while chanting a silent prayer that it doesn't become immediately obvious that she hadn't read a single of her most essential sources in its entirety (I mean, is anyone reading all of Écrits anyways (coping)).

"when I dream, I really do, that there’s no quiet place here on earth for our love, so I picture a grave, deep and narrow, in which we embrace as if clamped together, I bury my face against you, you yours against me, and no one will ever see us again"
Franz Kafka, The Castle
Christian Lacroix Haute Couture Spr/Sum 1996
Always before it had been vigour and resolution that made her insignificant body beautiful, now that beauty was gone. A few days of living with K. had sufficed to achieve that.
