// The Comforter //
Let’s sing a new song tomorrow – Perhaps then the raindrops of sorrow Will have rinsed away Grief’s yesterday.
We’ll watch a new sunrise next morn – Perchance then the fog of forlorn Will have risen so high As to uncloud our eyes.
Or, we’ll light a new fire come evening – Mayhap then the high noon of grieving Will have burned to ash Pain’s kindled stash.
Or, we’ll dance a new step at nighttide – Maybe then the stars, undefied, Will have twinkled to naught Our darkest thoughts.
But, let’s dare to have faith in tomorrow – Let’s trust in the hope we can borrow From the comforting skies, That catch all our sighs.
Non succede quasi mai a due come noi di credere che sia possibile trovare un complice in questo disordine.
Ci illudiamo di essere speciali per stronzi superficiali.

this was supposed to be different i say in my head as he screams at the top of his lungs in my new apartment, where it should be safe where there should be only laughter and late-night drinking sessions instead, it overflows with the voice of a boy who’s too focused on what he can gain from me his eyes are angry and his mouth curls up as he spits out the words “stupid” and “fucking useless” and i can’t help but remember us as kids trying too hard to be in love and how he danced with me so, so gently i can’t help but think of an 8 year old girl watching her parents fight over absolutely nothing and feeling powerless as her mother fell to the ground the boy is still yelling on the staircase he has the same freckles and green eyes as he did back then but his voice isn’t gentle, and his hand are moving too fast for my liking I catch my reflection in the hall mirror and see my father’s eyes staring back at me I realize that this boy isn’t the only one that’s changed I yell back with the malice I’ve been holding and my voice does not shake; he is surprised and begs me to stay but I know now that this was a lesson that sometimes the past should stay still in the past
