People seem to think the only reason people are angry about 13 Reasons Why is that it’s graphic/triggering but honestly that’s ridiculous. Suicide scenes and rape scenes are shown on tv and in movies all the time. That’s never been my issue.

I’m upset because as a suicide attempt survivor and a sexual assault victim, I can tell you this is not being portrayed accurately and it will hurt mentally ill people by contributing to the stigma. We’ve been saying forever that suicide is not about revenge or attention or sympathy and here this show comes along and becomes popular because of a fictional character’s actions that do not represent the vast majority of our feelings.
