Sometimes I think... I could write Shirabe.
Serlie is so loud lately
Send some asks maybe? Maybe to like... Serlie
Everything was quiet in and around the circus tent, the only people still awake finishing whatever theyâd been doing, headed off to bed so they would be refreshed for tomorrowâs show. The fool, Pierrot, stood alone, watching everyone finish up their tasks. âHey now, you should get to bed soon too. Big day tomorrow,â one of the trapeze artists said through a yawn, breaking Pierrotâs concentration, which was luckily hidden by the mask they wore.
âIndeed,â she managed quickly enough to avoid drawing any questions. âI just wanted to see everyone one last time, thatâs all.âÂ
âOne last time, huh?â The man laughed softly, a big smile dominating his features as he turned his head to look out at the others, too. âWell, I wonât try ân tell ya what to do, but weâll be here in the morninâ sure as can be. Itâs been⊠what, only a few months since ya joined, right?â
Pierrot nodded, though she was surprised that it had been that long. Everything since⊠back then was a bit of a blur, she hardly recognized the passage of time anymore. âYes⊠Thank you for treating me well when I had nowhere else to go.â
The man sighed, looking at the fool once, then chuckling again. âAinât nothinâ. Weâre family now, ya hear? You can always come to anybody here under this roof for anythinâ.â
If only it were that simple. To have normal, everyday problems that she could feel comfortable confiding in a friend, or⊠family, in this case. Yes, sheâd already begun to see the members of the circus that way, despite her short time here so far. But really⊠this life, even her name, âPierrotâ, was just a persona. It was easy for her to assume the mask of another person⊠to BE them. Whether sheâd always had that talent, or if it was something that she had developed in order to cope with the isolation and darkness that assailed her while she was hidden away after the end of the world, she didnât know.
But if she did know one thing, it was that her name⊠her real name, was Arle, and eventually, sheâd find a way to prove it. But for now, she was content with living the life of Pierrot, who had worked her way up from nothing. Even if Pierrot was just her creation, she had respect for that persona. Someone who built their identity as they went, unafraid of whatever hurdles might be set in front of them.
Seeing that Pierrot had fallen silent again, her friend gently pats her shoulder. âAnyway, Iâm gonna hit the hay now. Goodnight.â
   âYes, goodnight⊠and sweet dreams.â

âItâs a good attitude to have.â It was the kind Miki didnât have at first, but was trying to adopt more into her decisions. Well, with reasonable exceptions.
The offer to look around with the girl was a bit sudden, Miki had to agree with that. Though she didnât really see a lot of problem with it, either. Hell, she really had no other plans tonight, and she didnât really want to head back to where she was staying just yet. Maybe some company out in the city was what she was looking for?
âWellâŠI donât think I have a problem with that, no. I am a little surprised, sure, but Iâve also got nothing else to do just yet. Two heads can probably find something interesting around quicker than one.â
There was the barest hint of a smile that disrupted Liannaâs usual poker face - it wasnât often that she found the opportunity to experience something new with someone else, especially with someone sheâd just met. âThis should be fun. Where do you want to start looking? The historical district you mentioned earlier, maybe?â
There was also the matter of transportation, depending on how far away the destination they chose was. Of course, both of them had bikes, but they could also save a bit of gas money by pooling. Lianna made a mental note to refill her tank on the sooner side, since sheâd just rode in after a long ride, after all.
âHeh, caught me.â Ayumi seemed pretty comfortable with the awkward affection Serlie offered. âDonât worry about not being good at something as simple as showing affection. If you ask me, itâs a prettyâŠnatural thing, I guess. You think, âI kind of want to do this,â and you give it a shot. If it isnât welcome, it isnât like I wouldnât make that clear.â
With a small chuckle, Ayumiâs ears flickered. âWhat do humans say? Communication is a two way street? Iâd fully expect you to speak up if I made you uncomfy in some way.â
âRight, of course...â It made sense, but there was always the hesitation that came with uncertainty. It seemed that what she was doing was fine with Ayumi, thankfully, and with that little bit of relief, Serlie began to relax.Â
Taking a deep breath, the werewolf leaned gently against Ayumi in turn. This wasnât as hard as she thought it was, maybe. It probably helped that the wolf demon was so... soft? The way Serlie stroked the other girlâs hair became more natural - a bit more like how she fiddled with her own hair, though she doesnât try to braid it or anything. Yet.Â
âMaybe... I was just worried about nothing.â
âHmâŠI see. Iâll have to be careful of that thenâŠit sounds dangerous.â It was a pain, when something came around thinking that they could just take whatever they pleased. Just as bad as arrogant humans, at times.
âIf they do try and come here, Iâll be sure to find a way to handle them quickly.â She wondered if she should offer a hand in doing something about them wherever this fauna had come from, but that seemed like a bit much to offer to a stranger she hardly knew or trusted just yet.
âAre you hurt? Youâre welcome to follow me to my home, if you need anything or simply need a place to catch your breath. Itâs no bother.â
âYouâd offer something like that?â The huntress raised a wary brow. Certainly, showing a stranger where you lived wasnât the safest thing to do... There were a few reasons she could think of, but as long as she didnât allow herself to be caught off guard, following her there shouldnât be a problem. Besides, it isnât exactly like sheâd come here alone, since many of the same spirits that hunted with her followed her here when she left.
Admittedly, the faun was used to sleeping out in the wild, since she often needed to track prey quite far from her home, making those basic survival skills a necessity, but... Knowing where the dragon lived could prove useful another time. After a few moments of deliberation, Iri nods her approval. âVery well.â
âPlenty, yeah. Itâs a big placeâa lot to see and do. Thereâs a historical district, full of museums and little shops and older places. I think thatâs my favorite part of the city so far. But thereâs also a lot of good sight seeing and stuff to do.â Miki turned to her bike for a moment, digging through the backpack that was hanging off of it before pulling out a thin little book and handing it over to Lianna.
âKind of a traveling guide to the place. Might help a little. But Iâd definitely recommend the historical district, probably during the day when thereâs more places open. But, they probably have some neat shows and stuff there at night. I havenât remembered to stop by at a good time yet, so I couldnât say for sure.â She needed to stop herself before she rambled though. Clearing her throat, she grinned. âWhat kind of stuff do you look for though? Landmarks? Stores? Festivals and parties? I kind of rambled, but I donât even really have an idea of what kind of stuff youâre looking for.â
Taking the book, Lianna gives it a look over, starting at the cover, then turning it over to look at the back before opening it up to a random page and curiously flipping through it. The bookâs size was a bit deceptive in regards to just how many things there were to do, and though her expression never changed, Liannaâs eyes seemed to light up a little as she studied it.
âI like.... just about everything, really. I like to try everything that I can, at least once. Otherwise, how would I know if I like it or not?â She nods, as though in approval of what she just said before returning her gaze back up to Mikiâs. âMm. Iâve been told that these invitations of mine can be too sudden, so feel free to decline, but if you donât have other plans, would you want to look around a bit with me? Wherever is fine with me.â
"Just because you murder someone in the name of something good, doesn't mean you aren't a murderer."
âOhââ Miki accepted the handshake, though the passing compliment did blindside her a little bit. Not that she hasnât been called pretty before, but it could still be a little unexpected at times.
âNâŠah, no, Iâm not a local. Iâve been here for about a week now though. I guess Iâve been finding my way around all right. At least, none of the locals are side-eyeing me yet so I like to think that I am.â What sheâd learned so far was that if the locals werenât disgusted by her presence after a week, then she wasnât treading on thin ice like most tourists, at least. That was better than nothing. Particularly for a woman who hated upsetting people.
âYou just got here, I guess?â
Lianna gives Mikiâs hand one, firm shake before releasing her again, slipping her riding glove back on afterward. She nods in response to the question, grabbing one of the straps of her pack and lifting it up a little to draw attention to it to show that she still had her stuff. âI donât even have a room yet. Iâm not really in a hurry, though.â
âA week, though? Anything fun to do that youâve seen so far?â It was all pretty standard fare, usually. Maybe a club, or some historical site, maybe a good restaurant. All of those worked for her, but really, what Lianna really enjoyed doing, was helping people out in whatever way she could. Times when she could really help were few and far between - which was probably a good thing, though it did leave her with a lot of free time.
âA little, sure.â It was the only thing she owned for transportation, after all. She did know enough about them to maintain her own, since there were instances where taking it to a shop would produce no results.
âIâve only ever had experience with my own though.â She was simply more used to using her bike over an actual car at this point as well. Sure, she had to learn to drive a car to climb up to a motorcycle license, but once she got that, she had no desire to really keep her hands on a wheel.
âOh! SorryâŠnameâs Miki. I didnât mean to bother you or anythingâI guess I just kind of spoke before thinking.â
âMiki...? Thatâs a nice name. Mine is Lianna, nice to meet you.â Removing one of her riding gloves, she absently held out one hand for a handshake. âDonât worry, itâs never a bother to talk to pretty girls.â Being blunt and forward was one of Liannaâs... talents, though there was no real motive behind it other than simply saying what was on her mind - a habit that sometimes got her into trouble.
âI donât suppose youâre from this city? Or at least, maybe you know about places to go, things to see here?â Sheâd only just arrived, really, without having much of an opportunity to scout around for anything interesting. But maybe this chance meeting would help with that.
What would she even want to do, anyway? She supposed that it didnât really matter... as long as there were fresh faces, maybe some good food...
âHmâŠâ Miki fished around for her phone, finding her camera app as she leaned, half-sitting on her parked bike. She raised the phone up, finding a good angle of the skyline before snapping a photo of the distance across the river and reviewing it. âCity skylines are so stunning at nightâŠâ Her mutters were to herself as she saved the photo, additionally sending it over to her friend back home to let her see what it all looked like over here at night.
Brightly lit cities werenât something Miki was unfamiliar with, but something about new places and the lights at night were kind ofâŠfascinating, maybe.
Briefly, she glanced to the side where someone else was supposedly parking a motorcycle. It seemed a bit nicer than her own, but that could be said about a lot of vehicles when compared to an older model. Well kept and clean as it was, vehicle companies had a way of making modern models more appealing and stylized.
She wondered for a moment if she should speak up. Even as semi-comfortable as sheâd been getting, speaking to new faces, complimenting strangers still required some manual effort on her part. It was still pretty hard to beat that natural anxiety, it seemed.
âNice bike.â
âMm?â Lianna blinked in what must have been surprise, though it was hard to say just by looking, turning her attention to the source of the voice. She wasnât aware that anyone had been watching, but this was a big city, after all, plenty of people around. âAh, thank you...â Her eyes trail down to Mikiâs own bike, examining it curiously. âYou like bikes?â
Probably a pretty safe assumption, considering that the stranger owned one, but that thought didnât cross Liannaâs mind, really. After a moment or two, she climbs off of the motorcycle, resting her helmet on the handlebar before her gaze flicks back up to Mikiâs face.Â
Liannaâs expression remained fairly neutral the whole time, with only the hint of inquisitiveness in her eyes that indicated she was paying attention. The seeming lack of emotion was probably off putting to some people, but she was gradually getting better about it.
