SquAd gOaLS ft. Katy Clarke, Gaia Tretmanis and Esther Lovell

I really like how the group photos worked out, the dynamic was great, lots of attitude and flare. I really think this comes across in the images. We did get a lot of strange looks, but I think that added to the girls attitude. I would like to of worked with some male models on this and not have it as such a female heavy project, but so many boys said no because of the ‘make up’, very frustrating.

Golden Girl ft. Esther Lovell

This was the face decoration I personally preferred the best, however the photographs don't really do it justice, I’m not sure why either. I’d like to have another go at doing some more in a similar way, but photograph it in a different setting

Modern-day Glam Rock ft. Katy Clarke

I decided to be more elaborate with the make up for this shoot, all of the girls had very different looks, but they all worked together well. I didn't style the clothes, just the faces and the photographs. I feel again, that these pictures capture way more personality than the original ones. Two totally different aesthetics. Would be interesting to maybe collaborate with someone who could make costumes? Something to think about.

Ziggy Angel-dust ft. Gaia Tretmanis

Really liked how these images came out, more so the black and white ones, but a few of the colour images also really pop. I feel like taking photos of Gaia while she was just doing things in a going out atmosphere created more enigmatic images overall

A few more make up experimentations - 

Planning by practicing make up and lighting for tonight. I am planning on decorating several friends and going to a glam rock event in Glasgow, I aim to film and photograph them over the night. I’ve never worked with film before so it will be really interesting to experiment with a new medium. Hopefully I will be able to capture some real live attitude rather than the forced ones in the majority of the photos I've taken.

More experimenting with photography - 

I wanted to explore more photography techniques, so got a friend to photograph a new make up experimentation

Exploring potential spaces to be transformed (Sussman style) - 

Took a disposable into Glasgow city centre and photographed places i thought would be nice to transform, bringing some colour into the city, stored them in a handmade envelope in my sketchbook.

Black and White edits - 

I really love the images in black and white, I really feel like more attitude its conveyed and the colour differences in the make up are really noticeable. I’d like to print a few of these up quite big and have them on display for the open studios at the end of the project. Will see closer to the time

One person party ft. Charlotte Henon

I really like the way the colours work together in this set of photographs, the make up is slightly different and the aptmosphere is totally different again. These photos were taken in Charlotte’s home. Again, I want to experiment with these photos, creating layers and black and white images

Sorry, I’m a bit wrapped up right now ft. me

I felt bad lighting the candles on anyone else head, and I'm glad I only did it on me, hot dripping wax on my head wasn't comfortable, I also wanted to have a go at binding my face a little bit, similar to some of the shoots Blame styled. I tried to make the colour scheme a combination of Blame and Sussman, but the kitsch components are more of my own touch to the images. Again, i do like the overly saturated grainy image, but would like to see them black and white. I tried to express more attitude while getting one of my flatmates to photograph me, I feel like this worked to a certain extent, but i feel like i didn't quite achieve what i set out to do. I will think about this more in the following week. Even though I haven't experimented with many different ideas yet I feel like I want next weeks outcome to be in a similar vein to the photoshoots. Potentially taken at a gig or event, and capture real emotion instead of forced ones in my shoots so far.

Behind The Candelabra ft. Zach Mason

Second of the weeks photoshoots, tried to keep a similar theme with the make up, but added probs and created a headband with found materials (like Blame), including the candelabra cake decoration, which i wanted to light but was worried about setting fire to Zach. The attitude isn't really there in these pic because he just kept trying not to laugh, which kind of made things difficult, all the same, the high contrast and saturation of colour in the images is really interesting to me. I plan to make these images black and white over the next few days when I have finished all of the shoots, and play around with layering them on photoshop to maybe create some interesting prints.

Laundry Room Chic ft. Katy Clarke

First of the mini photoshoot experiments. Really like the way the make up shows up on camera, and want to continue a similar theme with the other photographs

Decorated and collaged photographs - 

I took photographs of friends on a disposable camera, and collaged bits of each of their faces, drew on and embellished the them. I really like the hand-made look of the images. I tried to express attitude in the photos in a similar way to Blame. I now aim to put this attitude into a photoshoot, with several friends. I’ve arranged for different people to let me decorate their faces over the next few days. I’m really excited to see the outcome.

Experiment with found image - 

In the style of some of Blame’s collage work, i experimented with some found images to create slightly unusual glam-rock-esque images. I really like the way these turned out and want to try collaging photos I've taken of people myself in a similar way, and maybe styling some shoots in a similar way. I feel like its important to express attitude when looking at Blame as an influence. I’m intrigued to see what my own shoot in this vein would turn out like.

Exploring Sussman and Blame - 

Collecting more images and displaying them visually really helped me think of more ideas for the following week, in which I was planning to experiment with ideas
