"End of the line, O'Deorain. Looks like we're finally gonna get back to the important things, huh?" Her heart is heavier than she'll admit.
Sheâs silent for a moment, taking in the otherâs words and letting them mull around in her brain. Itâs trueâthey would be going back to their world and going back to all that hard work they had to do. They were leaving behind the lives they lived here and everything that led up to now. She wasnât one to be sentimental, she had left behind so much many, many times before, but this time it wasnât guaranteed theyâd still remember everything in this city. It might be wiped from their memories upon leaving.
And that, she didnât know if she wanted to give up.
âYouâre right,â she finally stated, words falling out of her mouth heavier than she thought. âBack to the important things, back to Oasis and running the genetics department while helping Talon as they need. But I wouldnât say everything here isnât important. What was done here isnât a waste of time.â
Moving towards the other, she stared down at her, before aimlessly taking the otherâs hair between her fingers. Playing with it for a bit, she sighed, shrugging her shoulders.
âBut I doubt weâll remember any of this when we get home, so no matter how important it feels, it will become worthless as soon as itâs gone.â
With that, she leaned down to softly give the other a kiss, before righting herself and turning to move past, making sure to wipe away any tears that may try to force themselves out. There was no need to be sentimental. It was just going to disappear anyway.
Itâs all coming down.
At first, Sombra is angry.Â
The balance of power overthrown, the scientists missing with their doors wide open. It was everything she could have asked for, if only it had been a few months prior. Everything was hers for the taking, the technology behind this wretched experiment and the real seat of power behind it all. The only thing that meant something in this shithole of a city and that was always permanently out of reach.
Itâs meaningless now. Easily, so laughably easily, Sombra was able to gain access to the Core, in all its abandoned glory. Her abilities, once locked, invigorated her as she tore almost desperately through whatever firewalls and protections were left around it. The back door to the scientists lair hadnât simply been left ajar; No, it had been blown wide open, with nothing left to hide.
Bitter laughter echoed around her, solitary in her journey to the main hub. She pulled everything she could from every single scrap of technology she could get her hands on along the way, though most of it had been purged of anything useful-- All broken code and fragments of a whole. It compounded on the sense of frustration that burned in her heart. This wasnât how it was supposed to end.
Finally, after what felt like ages, Sombra reached the control room. It was a disaster, and immediately apparent that she was not going to find what she had spent so long searching for.Â
A computer with a blank screen sat idly nearby, the only thing on it the blinking of a cursor in the corner. Pulling up her interface, Sombra connected to it, watching as more of her screens popped up to accommodate the large, yet decaying, infrastructure of the city. The slate was erasing itself, and would soon be blank.
The people out there were dying, or being sent home, or whatever was happening. She hadnât gone yet, but knew there was little time.
On various screens across the city, a purple sugar skull appeared, flickering in and out of focus. Her voice, distorted, can be heard if one were close by.
ă The scientists are gone. Thereâs nothing left in the Core. ă
She paused.
ă I guess you could say we won. It sure as hell doesnât feel like it, but itâs over. ă
There was a certain, small number of people she hoped would see her message. She wasnât one for sentimental goodbyes; It was easier this way, away from people, alone. Sheâd see them again, of course, but it would never be the same.
One by one, the screens went blank.
âEnd? No, the journey doesnât end here. Death is just another path. One that we all must take.â

Iâll likely be remaking Sombraâs blog for the move to IR, but I will be keeping most of her memories, etc from Citta. If you are also moving and youâd like to have anything in particular pre-established (whether they be completely new or from previous interaction at citta) going forward, donât hesitate to message me! Iâm best reached at my twitter but Iâll probably lurk around this blog for a few days while i get everything in order. For now Iâm erasing affiliations to citta from this blog and will be keeping it as an archive. Thanks!

Please unfollow if youâre staying affiliated with Citta Alveare.
Because of how the situation is evolving Iâve decided its in everyoneâs best interest for me to publicly reveal the resignation letter Iâd drafted yesterday. It goes into detail about everything thatâs been happening to both myself and the other mods for years. Everything in this can be corroborated by other mods, past or present, and in more recent cases there is proof available.
This isnât how we wanted things to go, but it isnât fair to the other mods to be treated as liars or have conspiracy theories tossed about. If you have questions or concerns feel free to contact me here or on my public twitter where Iâve been handling things.Â
Whether anyone follows us to the new group, stays in whatever theyâre trying to salvage with citta, or whatever. Thatâs everyoneâs decision to make on their own. But I feel a little better knowing that the truth is out there.
You can read the letter here.

Well, this is a hell of a thing to wake up to.
I know this blog has been inactive for a while, but Sombra and Citta always have a big olâ place in my heart. Iâm very sad to see it go, as Iâd planned on returning soon, but it looks like Iâll be joining the new group instead (whenever it makes its debut) with Sombra and somebody new....... For now, catch me on twitter at EX0ENCE.
Thank you to everyone for being a friend these past few months. I have met so many people in this group who have changed my life and who mean a lot to me. Iâve been in and out of Citta these past few years and itâs hard to believe that itâs shutting down!Â
Stay strong, Cittazens. Everythingâs gonna be okay.
†, Kat.
IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ
Hey guys! This will probably be very unfortunate news to you all, but weâve been put in a situation where we have to bring this to your attention. After 7 long years Citta is about to be closed. We donât know when or if that is the 100% for sure outcome, or whether it was intended to let it die out quietly, however two mods have already quit and the rest of us have been effectively locked out of the masterlist without any communication from the head moderator.
I wonât get into too much detail about the circumstances here, but over the past week (and farther back in general) there have been some issues that we havenât been able to address within the moderator team, and despite several attempts to rectify the situation it seems we wonât be able to come to satisfactory conclusion in the end.
But all hope isnât lost. After some discussion during the past week, mods oo4, oo7, o13, and myself have decided to create a new group in its stead.Â
Most importantly, Citta members will get an opportunity to claim muses they had in Citta at the time of closing and will retain all of their memories, unlocks, and a rank of equivalent value in our new system.Â
In the meantime, feel free to continue any threads you currently have in the group since memories will carry over to the new group, however do not explicitly refer to citta. Weâll have new information very soon on this blog, so please keep an eye out! In the meantime I will be using my unlocked twitter here to address any questions or concerns. This will be a sad time for all of us and trust me when I say none of us wanted it to reach this point.
Thanks for your support, and I hope youâll continue to support us in the future! We profusely apologize for any inconvenience or anxiety this change may cause you.

[ hereâs a twitter drop and a mastodon drop while weâre here lmaoooooo ]
@scarmongerâ liked for a starter.
â Well, well. Looks like youâve beaten me to the punch. â
If Sombra had interrupted anything, it was clear by the flippant attitude with which she spoke that she didnât care. Emerging from the shadows where sheâd been observing the stranger, Sombra gestured towards the man whom she spoke of, sitting on the ground as if heâd tripped and stumbled backwards. The poor sucker seemed to sweat more at her appearance, though why heâd ended up with such rotten luck in the first place was hardly concerning. The guy she didnât recognize, the rogue variable, was a surprise development-- But not one she couldnât take in stride.
â This really messes with my plan. Wanna tell me what youâre doing here? â
@betterscienceâ liked for a starter.
Sombra wasnât sure entirely how long she had been gone. It was a thought that unnerved her, having forgotten everything that had happened in Hive City and suddenly remembering it all upon her return. And the reasoning as to why sheâd been taken then brought back remained, as it was in the beginning, a mystery. It made her brain hurt, in a way it usually only did when her augmentations needed a bit of calibrating-- Sheâd done it after arrival to make sure.
If ever there were a comforting thought, however, it was that there was still at least one friendly face kicking around the city. Or, rather, her apartment, which Sombra knew immediately to still be inhabited by a certain scientist almost as soon as she walked in.
Standing in the living room for a second or two, Sombra migrated to the kitchen, where she took one look at the contents of the fridge before letting out a loud sigh. The thing was nearly empty. Not much had changed, but luckily for her, there was still a fair amount of coffee grounds left in the pantry to put on a pot. The poor coffee maker had certainly seen better days.
Measuring out just enough for a few cups, adding water, then pressing the brew button, Sombra turned back around and hopped to sit on the counter adjacent to the coffee maker. All that was left was to get Moiraâs attention.
â OâDeorain! â She shouted, feigning panic, in case the geneticist happened to be asleep. â Itâs an emergency, come out quick! â
Hey everyone! Iâm working on starters that I owe right now, but I just wanted to post a friendly reminder that if you are a personal or otherwise non-rp blog, do NOT interact with any of my posts. That includes liking them in addition to reblogging them. I will likely block or soft-block you, as it clutters my activity page and makes me highly uncomfortable.
Thank you for understanding!!
