âI donât feel very okay right nowâ
If you give me any positive reinforcement whatsoever i will go full doggo and hang on to that shit forever and my internal thought process will pretty much boil down to â!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!â
me: iâm gonna be productive today! gonna do shit!!! here i go!!!!!!!!
me, 4 hours later:
Thereâs nothing wrong with trans guys liking âguy stuff.âÂ
Thereâs nothing wrong with trans guys feeling good about buying âunnecessarily gendered items to protect fragile masculinity.â
Thereâs nothing wrong with wanting to be masculine, assertive, confident, etc.
Expressing yourself as a man doesnât mean you want to actively harm, harass, assault, or otherwise oppress women.Â
Being a trans man doesnât mean that youâre ducking oppression to be an ~entitled male~ and active rape culture promoter, and it doesnât mean that you were influenced by too many male protagonists in media that have led you to identify as male to feel ânormalized.â
Donât feel guilty for being a man. I say this because I wish someone had told me this when I was first struggling with my own identity, because the people I talked to about it told me I only felt a longing to be male as a result of toxic masculinity.
I had to explain to my partner that buying guys body wash was affirming for me because of the scent and how it made me feel because in public Iâm still seen as âmaâamâ
What taking testosterone will change:Â
- how much body hair youâll naturally grow (hint: a whole lot more)
- your muscle mass. youâll gain muscle taking T, especially in the shoulders and youâll lose body fat in the hips. itâs different to everyone how the body fat is redistributed but taking T is the best time to get in an exercise routine because youâll gain muscle a lot faster.Â
- your clit is gonna get huge within like the first two weeks. get ready
- you could get mood swings when you first start because itâs Puberty: The Sequel
- within the 3 months youâll notice your voice dropping
-hunger and hot flashes. Hunger and Hot Flashes
- you may notice that a lot of anxiety is going away! thatâs because testosterone (may possibly, this one is just my experience) can help mellow you out, and also some aspects of your dysphoria (high pitched voice, periods) are going away!
- also menstruation will stop by or even before month 5!Â
What taking testosterone WONâT change:
-your aggression. you are not going to turn into some out-of-control rage beast. if you are, then you probably need to talk to your doctor about it. T can give you mood swings because of, like I said, you are going through puberty again, but itâs not going to make you an angry person.Â
-your personality. i say this all the time, but deciding to transition does not equal deciding to be a brand new person. you are still you! in fact, transition means that you are becoming more you than ever! adding testosterone to your body is just something that you decided youâve been missing to help you grow into the great person that you are!
-your overall health. of course, there are concerns when taking a new hormone, but if you look at the health risks, itâs mostly risks that cisgender men typically have. Increased heart issues? Thatâs a cisman thing. And the increased risk for problems in your ovaries/uterus? I mean, yeah, people who naturally produce the levels of testosterone that we are going for usually donât have ovaries. So that one makes sense, you know?
Moral of the story is we need to stop scaring people who are taking hormones! Yes, itâs a big step and an important decision, but itâs has nothing to do with changing who you are on the inside. In the end, you are still who you are, just with a few different features!Â
The stereotype that transgender men are sweet, soft boys before T and then afterwards are hairy, aggressive men is problematic and very tiring.Â
Epilepsy while being Trans
So I have seen maybe one post about this and I think that it is something that needs to be talked about.
Being trans and having epilepsy fucking sucks lemme tell you. But over time, I have figured out certain things that need to be known
IF YOU BIND, PLEASE BE CAREFUL! When I had my first grand mal seizure, I was binding and holy shit. My ribs were hurting for a good week after that and I could not bind for a while. If you start feeling weird/aura-y, I would immediately go take off your binder. I personally keep a spare sports bra in my locker just in case I need to change out.
If you pack, I would suggest taking that out as well. If EMTs are called when you are going through the post-seizure stage, you might get palpated by EMTs to make sure youâre okay
Basically, if your gender marker isnt changed, take off stuff that could out you if you do not feel like sitting through the entire explanation with a doctor.
If you can help it, do not be like me. I slightly remember saying to the doctor âHey Iâm trans but not out so dont tell my parents so shhhhhshhshshsâ That was interesting
Another thing! The doctors would not let me take off my binder in the hospital room and I was in there for almost 12 hours so yeah. Back at the binder thing. Just be careful.
I donât know what else. If anyone else has some tips or information for trans women, please let me know and I will add it to this post
Transitioning mtf myself, it never occured to me that specific difficulties you might face. Thank you for educating me and mine.
Trans followers, please share this. Epilepsy is the single most common neurological disorder and one of the most common in general. There are other trans people out there who might not have considered these issues.
Hi so I need some help and Iâm trying to collect opinions. Iâm a creator and Iâm currently working on a film that, if it gets produced, I will be playing one of the leads in. Hereâs the problem: the main character (not me) and my character are in a super gay hidden relationship and it ends up coming out that my character is a trans man. (1/2)
Now I myself am a genderfluid, transmasc individual but Iâm incredibly closeted and Iâm worried about playing this character and receiving backlash for it since Iâm a âcis white woman acting as a trans man.â Do you have any advice about how to handle or avoid this other than outing myself? Any advice is appreciated. Thank you so much! - Elliott (2/2)
I think it depends on who is going to be seeing the movie, in all honesty, and where it will circulate. Is it for an LGBT short film festival? Will it be online? This is a tricky situation, and I think itâs important for you to weigh the pros and cons here. If I were in your situation, I would probably come out, but I understand why that isnât an option for some people. Can you come out to select people? Is it important to you that you play this specific character, or can you audition for openly trans actors to fill the role?
If anyone else has advice feel free to chime in!
me: *sees a cis guy with a flat chest*
me: what did YOU do to deserve that??? im out here begging for that and you just??? get it???? without?????????? even???????????? asking???????????????????? for?????????????????????? it????????????????????
2019 is very personal, i owe myself alot.
A few weeks ago, we exhibited at Emerald City Comicon. Typically when we attend conventions, we try to create some spectacle that captures peopleâs attention and sells games. Like the time we brought a marching band to PAX Australia.
At ECCC, we set up a âPay What You Wantâ booth and encouraged people to give us any amount of money in exchange for our games. We put games on a table, set up some signs, stood off to the side, and waited to see what would happen.
We brought 2000 games. Before the convention began, we took bets on what would happen:
Tom thought weâd sell out in a few hours.
Alex thought weâd run out on the of the second day of the con.
Trin thought that we would not run out of games because we are no longer cool or relevant.
Jenn got a fever and didnât know what was happening.
We were all wrong.Â
The doors opened, and attendees swarmed the booth. Within five minutes attendees realized they could just take games and walk away. A small group grabbed armfuls of free games and left, but most people paid something. Within an hour, the booth looked like this:
We ran out of games in 51 minutes.and made $8042.48, or 18.7% of the gamesâ retail value. In other words, we lost $685.44 per minute.
Attendees put lots of other stuff in the payment box too.
Some things you put in our box:
Five Canadian Dollars ($3.72 USD)
Ten Euros ($10.66 USD)
Eighty Philippine Pesos ($1.59 USD)
One Chinese Yuan ($0.14 USD)
One Cubone Pokemon Card, XY Breakthrough (Avg price - $0.68 USD)
One Magic: The Gathering Eternal Masters booster pack wrapper (No Value)
One handwritten âAny Pizza Freeâ and âTwisted Flicks + KPCâ Coupon from a Papa Murphyâs in Kirkland, WA (Estimated Value $25.00 USD)
One $1 Bill folded into a bowtie ($1.00 USD)
One âFeelTheBurn.orgâ $1 bill. ($1.00 USD)
Two halves of a $1 bill ($1.00 USD )
Once we sold out, we had to figure out what to do with our booth space.Â
On Saturday, we gave our space to artists who werenât able to get a table at the con. People showed up to exhibit cosplay horns, board games, recycled journals, and comic art.
On the last day of the con, we set up a station for mailing letters to representatives.
We provided pens, paper, postage, envelopes, writing tips, and the address of every US Senator.Â
Over 200 letters were written by con attendees, including the most bad ass Imperator Furiosa cosplayer weâve ever seen.
Weâre still waiting on Immortan Trumpâs response.
