entirely neutral on the chainsaw man ending because of how it felt forced to finish rather than allowed to reach a natural conclusion. I think I'll try to step away from it for a while before rereading it to see how I feel about it as a complete story versus a serialized story, but I think you can at least read the ending as compatible with some of the themes of the manga, in that denji's other life is still fundamentally with the same power structures in place and all that has changed is a few contingencies in people's lives to make them slightly more joyful but not better. Given everything that has happened in the story it does feel at least purposefully bittersweet.

#I do wish that asa had stayed the main character of part 2 and the ending had focused on her but wanting a different story isn't critique #At least it didn't end with a heterosexual marriage #But now fujimoto hopefully can return to what he does best: one shots #csm spoilers

Since we're approaching halloween I'm going to take a seasonally appropriate moment to recommend one of my favorite mangas ive read: I Want To Hold Aono-Kun So Badly I could Die by Umi Shiina

Tumblr as a website is pretty dominated by the werewolf and vampire lovers, but my favorite type of horror creature has always been ghosts. I think ghosts are excellent at delivering both horror and sensuality, and everything i feel like a good author is capable of doing in both of those spaces is at peak form in aono-kun

this is a horror romance series following an introverted girl named yuri, who begins going out with aono-kun, the first boy whose ever really been nice to her, only for him to abruptly die two weeks later after being hit by a car. This drives yuri to attempt suicide, only for her to be stopped by aono's ghost.

The two continue their relationship postmortem, but as things progress a sinister and inhuman alter ego begins to take control of aono-kun at times, with neither he nor yuri able to understand why or how to stop it. eventually, aono's still living best friend and a girl from their class who is an agoraphobic horror buff join the young couple in attempting to untangle the nature of aono's haunting.

i am in this moment, sincerely and with no caveats, recommending you a heterosexual romance, which i assume is probably more than enough in its own right to pique the interest of a lot of my followers. but to sweeten the pot with a little more specificity i think the place this manga really shines is in its incredibly compelling portrayal of an adolescent sexuality bogged down by depression and familial abuse.

My piece for a spanish When They Cry fanzine we're gifting to Ryukishi. This tiny mansion is inspired by a famous spanish comic, 13 Rue del Percebe (look it up!!). I had a blast!

Ryukishi's stories are so complex, so full of soul and ideas that it makes me want to scream while I take notes (this is real, a have a little notebook for that). Anyway, I love Umineko like I love telling stories and I hope you enjoy the silly details in this piece.
